We booked a room in the Lodge before we left MOTD last year....but I have been considering taking my Pop-Up camper instead and staying at the campground at the base of the dam.

I don't have my reservation letter here.....anyone know how they handle cancellations? Do I lose part of a deposit for canceling? I can't recall how it works.

Not sure we are going to cancel for sure, just considering it. After staying in that crappy cabin last year, we ran to the Lodge to reserve something better for this year before we left!

 

I wouldn't cancel. I'd post that you have a room at the Lodge and would like to give it up. I'm sure someone will jump all over that and then you can simply transfer the reservation to them.

 

Oh, that's how it works. O.K. That would be easier.....I remember the big shuffle at the end last year when people were looking for rooms.

I wonder how that would work, though.....I know I put a hold on the reservation with my credit card. I guess I would call Fontana and tell them that "whoever" would be taking over the reservation and they would then call and give their card number?

 

The person you transfer it to just pays you the deposit and you transfer the room over to them with the Fontana.

 

We may be interested in the room, if you decide to camp. Does the room have one or two beds? We have a total of four people coming down, and are looking for a room or lodging at Fontana. Let me know, as we can take it off your hands for you. We camped last year, as we decided to go at the last minute.

 

I'll definitely keep you in mind if we end up doing the camping thing. The lodge room is one with 2 Queen beds, so it would probably work. The only catch is that it is only for Thursday night through Saturday night (3 nights)....don't know how early you were planning to go.

I'll keep you posted. I need to call the campground to check on space....and then the lodge to see how to best handle the switch.

Thanks for the update. Keep us in mind. Thursday would work. Two of us might come down on Wednesday, probably would camp that day. the other two on Thursday.

 

I just got off the phone with Fontana. They made it really simple and just transferred my reservation from the Lodge to the campground instead....no loss of deposit.

So...I guess I won't be able to help you out. Sorry if I got your hopes up. I figured it was going to be an ordeal to do, but the reservations for both camping and lodge were handled by the same lady....so it was quick and easy.

I hope you find a place to stay. Surely someone will cancel a reservation in the next three months. Or do what I did last year and share a cabin with someone who has a reservation already.

 

I have a room reserved at Fontana Village Resort during the Dragon and I will not be able to make it this year. This is a lodge room with a king bed for four nights. Check in is on 4/29-5/2 with checkout on 5/3 am. My deposite I believe is $100.

Hey if anyone is giving up a space at the lodge please keep me in mind. The boys still talk about last year's trip to MOTD but I didn't think we would be able to go this year because of school and such but now it looks like it will work out. Looking for something with two beds.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend MOTD this year. I therefore have a room available at the Fontana Lodge for anyone who is interested. These are the details:

Check-In: Wednesday 4/29/09
Check-out: Sunday 5/3/09
Room: Main Lodge 2 Queen Beds
Rate: $99/night plus tax

I have already paid a $99 deposit. I just spoke with Fontana and they said the easiest way to transfer the reservation to a different name is as follows:

1. I call Fontana and give them the name of the new person.
2. The new person calls Fontana and pays the $99 deposit for the room.
3. Fontana refund the $99 back to me.
