Service Mode

Hey Everyone,

I did the first oil change after breaking in the engine and I there were a few things that I am not use to with the 4th gens.
  1. Cannot keep the car in neutral with the door open. I usually keep it in neutral while lifting the front of the car up so the back wheels roll forward slightly instead of being dragged. Does anyone know how to keep the car in neutral why you open and close the door?
  2. I didn't see a central jack point where I could lift the entire front end so I don't have to use 2 separate jacks on either side. Doesn't anyone have a good suggestion for lifting the front end? I could lift one side at a time but i think that puts a lot of twisting stress on the frame as the back wheel of the side i am lifting start to come up as well without any support.
I have seen YouTube short of people putting the cars into the service mode by triple twisting the ignition switch without pressing on the brakes but what does this mode do? I tried to do this but the transmission still select Park when I open the door.

You should be using jack stands with a jack at all times, even when jacking up only one side. Grab a pair and problem solved, including being able to jack up each side a bit at a time if you're worried about frame twisting.
