Keep an eye on this forum and don't be surprised to see a Brew Swap 2 registry popping up this summer. Getting people who definitely know they're coming to sign up early will help me to gauge what size crowd we'll have next year.

Brew Swap vets are guaranteed a spot.

I just finished the Capital 1900 by the Capital Brewery. Hands down one of the best beers I've ever had. Who knew such great beer was in Wisconsin?

Last night, I had the Circus Boy Hefeweisen by Magic Hat. Very interesting, it tasted like it had rose oil in it, or some flowery type of essence. I really enjoyed it. I went to their website to see if I could get more info on the beers they offer, and while the website is extremely creative and cool, I couldn't find any additional info on the beer. The site kind of gave me a headache
MagicHat.net was the site.

I think I'm getting into stout. First there was Annette's almost orgasmic Oatmeal Coffee Stout I reported on earlier, now tonight we tried Oscars Chocolate Oatmeal stout. This was also delicious, not quite as rich as the coffee stout but man it went down easy! Slightly chocolatey, nice aroma that I can't describe and a great aftertaste. Don't know who brought it but thanks.

Update on the SeaDog Blueberry Wheat we liked so much. Brought by Chrisneal - thanks Chris.

Glad you liked the Capital 1900 Matt.

Thanks Randy. That was delicious.

Hey Annette, go here http://www.magichat.net/elixirs/index.php and click on the top set of taps in the upper right corner. Once it loads you'll see a link on the top center/right which says "see the roster". When you click on that you'll see Circus Boy listed. Click on that for the details.

For anyone still keeping an eye on this thread. I thoroughly enjoyed Railbender Ale & Cottrell's Old Yankee. Both were delicious.

Tried and very much enjoyed the Founder's Centennial IPA last night! ...of course, a good cigar made everything even better!

Old Leghumper

Had this last night. I usually like a lighter beer, but this was very good. Can't wait for next year. Got to try to find some of this locally. I'm already looking for a selection of beer for next year.

I also tried the Railbender Ale recently. That's a very good beer!
Sweet Geogia Brown is also very tasty. Thanks to whomever brought it.

I'm keeping up with this thread for sure. I'm hoping to be able to look it up before the Dragon next year to see which beers to get again and which beers to try for that I missed this year!
Matt, is it ok if I add the Brew Swap Veteran logo to my sig?

I shared the Dragonhead Stout with my dad the other night. It's the first beer I've had from the swap that I didn't like. Not "stout" enough, and had a really bitter taste. Hey, you can't win 'em all! ;-)

I tried out of the ones I brought, it was the Terrapin Rye Pale Ale. I ended up pouring it down the sink and grabbing a Boddington's instead. I'm not wasting that many calories on a beer I don't like!

By all means add the vet tag. It's for any brew swapper to use.

I have to say that I really liked Old Leg Humper and Railbender Ale. Very tasty. I also enjoyed the Abita (?spelling) strawberry ale while sitting around a camp fire the other night. Hit the spot.

The bull dog porter was good but not something I would drink often.

Had the Magic Hat IPA yesterday afternoon. Rather mild for an IPA which was actually good for a refreshing break from watching Theresa garden in the hot sun.

That's too bad... I had that one Saturday night and quite enjoyed it. The fact that I'm a Dawg ('93) might have had something to do with it...

Glad folks are enjoying the Magic Hat and Cottrell I loooooooooove Circus Boy!

I've had so very many brews, but for some reason haven't posted about them. I shall try to remember...

Railbender: Tasty, and yet I wasn't bowled over by its wonderfullness. A good all-purpose beer. Much like...

Lord Chesterfields: also tasty. All purpose.

Bully Porter: YUM! I can put away Guinness, but this beer took me the better part of an evening.

Chocolate Cherry Stout: Very good, but I could have done wth 1/4 less volume. By the last 1/4 of the bottle it was too cherry-y. First 3/4 were great.

Yard's Philadelphia Pale: Not nuts about it. Very citrusy, which I'm not generally a fan of unless in a Hefeweisen.

In other news, I went to a beer and chili fest last weekend and spent much of it hunting down the Saranac Apricot Wheat. Dogfishead also has an Apricot Pale Ale... all told, i'm a fan of Apricot beer. Who knew?

Don't remember any names at the moment but I have found out that I'm generally not too fond of pale ales. We've tried about four of them this past week and I really didn't take a shine to any of them.

Randy,
I'm with you on that, I used to like the pale ales but have gone off them in the last year or so.
I tried an Apricot Wheat ale (I'll check the bottle for brand later) and liked the first half but the apricot overpowered the second half. Mike liked it at first, too, so we decided that this would be one to share next time.

I don't know how on earth I managed this, but even though I like a lot of different beer, I'm well aware of the fact that I can't get myself into the Belgian style or wheat beers - yet somehow I brought back more Belgian style than almost anything else! I seem to vaguely recall saying "ok, whatever" a lot!

As for the IPA's, you can get turned off by some of them - there seems to be a fine line between full flavor and bad aftertaste. I am a fan of IPAs, but also know I've had a few I didn't entirely like.

Upon further reflection, I guess the same applies for all sorts: pilsners, lagers, ales, stouts, porters, etc.

Confession time. The Oscars Chocolate Oatmeal stout I reported on earlier wasn't from the Brew Swap. Marsha picked it up locally and it got mixed up with the swap beers. We picked up a sixer since then and I still like it a lot, and will bring some if we make it to the next swap. I could trade some with Annette for more of her Oatmeal Coffee stout.

I think we have at least six beers to try yet.
