NICE! so you're telling me there's going to be a bunch of people stuck out in the middle of nowhere with moi?...LOL!..

Hey, los mosquitos, sign me up.. I'm always down for good BBQ.. ... once I moved up here (New Hampshire) I quickly realized that BBQ-sauce to New Englanders is pretty much Ketchup (or Catsup, whichever spelling you prefer.. )

8:30 is a late dinner man, at least for us. Put us down as questionable.

[quote=vargasgal]So it looks like I am going to neither the Welcome nor the Farewell dinners. For some reason, I thought the cutoff was the 28th. I must have looked at my calendar wrong. Oh well.

Sorry you are right the dinner cutoff was 28th but we had issues with the restaurant and needed to cutoff early. If you want to purchase either dinner we have a couple of spaces left. Just PM for details.

Super goodie bag and a "legal pass" for the offical Dragon events (drive-in, etc.) It was $5 for just the registration to participate in the offical events. I forgot where it is picked up...I got an email today that said where...

Maybe there could be an early and later group...spread things out a little for the Sweetwater folks. Also, keep in mind they close at 9pm. Most restaurant people I know hate people that come in at closing...

Adventure Center (aka Rec Center) in Fontana Village.

If there are any changes to the location and/or times we will post something in

Someone will probably reply faster than me on this...some of the events are charging extra. The brew swap and pre-bbq were started on a whim. There was no charge for the swap because we were all bringing our own stuff and swapping. I think it was later decided that some of the group was going to grill out first because they were going to miss the Chilli cookoff. The money came into play because it those cooking will know how much food to buy and so it isn't coming out of their pockets.

Hey folks,
I just had a chance to catch up on a few things. Unfortunately, I missed the cutoff for the dinners as well. So count me +1 in on the Sweetwater BBQ deal.
Also, I hadn't heard about the pre-swap BBQ. I'd love to get into that as well. Whom do I contact or is there a registration link on the event planner (didn't see one).

Lastly, Matt, are we going to hook up in La and drive up on Wednesday?

See you all next week!

Matt

When you arrive to Fontana come at the registration desk to pick up your swag bag and badge.- if you paid $40.00 or your guide and badge if you paid $5.00.

Dinners and some other events are extras.

I'm not going to the welcome or farewell dinners (though I will be at the pre-Swap bbq). If you see me wandering around, lonely and hungry, please offer me a ride and some dinner companionship. I'm a good passenger, and I chew with my mouth closed.

For others who may be interested, there is still some space left at the Pre-Brew BBQ. The link in my sig takes you to the registration page (which includes more details) and you can keep tabs on it in this thread.

FYI, you do not have to be part of the Brew Swap to join the Pre-Brew BBQ it is open to the first 100 people to register.

Robbinsville is pretty much it for civilization when you're at the Dragon. By about 9PM, they roll up the sidewalks. There are the restaurants, the Microtel and another motel, a grocery store, several gas stations that have a captive audience (us), one fast food place and a dozen or so small businesses. You can walk around the entire town in 30 mins. or less. There 2 stoplights.

Dinner is impossible after 8PM...if 40 people show up, no way can they be served in an hour.

It might be smart to actually bring food with you, so you're not stumbling around starving on your 1st night. There is a small convenience store at the Fontana. It closes at 5PM. There are restaurants too, tho' I imagine they're going to be extremely busy.

As others stated above, they close at 9ish. But, if you get into contact with Sweetwater early enough, I'm willing to bet that they could accomodate latecomers.

Maybe have 'shifts'? Like have one group show up at about 7, and a later group at about 8:30? Of course, this should be passed though Sweetwater, as they probably wouldn't be too amused by a gaggle of hungry folks walking in a 1/2 hour before close w/o warning!

-Paul! (Who really, really wishes he could be there...)

I plan to visit Will at Sweetwater this weekend and will let him know to expect a large crowd all next week. Ingles Market, close by Sweetwater, is open until 10 PM and has an amazingly good selection of foodstuffs. The mountain folk close up shop pretty early.

Here's a link to restaurants in Robbinsville: http://www.switchboard.com/bin/cgidi...&LNK=54:4&SO=2

Scroll down the page to see the ten places listed on the link.
