I was just figuring the same as last year, although Pam and I were at the wrong gas station waiting for a bit. And then we did get to the Rest stop at least 45 minutes early. Let's make it 9:30am as there will be more MINIs this year and we will all be topping off the tanks.

The first rest area inside Kentucky on 71/75.

However, no offense, but if you're going to be moronic enough to endanger yourself and others by driving the Dragon at night without lights, mayhaps you'd be best to stay home.

I'm actually going down on Wednesday, so I will not be heading up the NE Ohio caravan, I'll have another club member do it.

He didn't mean that he actually would, he just kidding that if I was in front with all my lights on, he wouldn't need his

...and, as mielnicki said, we are going down on Thursday

I will be at the Dragon this year, but Detroit Tuned needs to get there early this year so we will not be in the caravan down. you all have a good time and you can always reference last years midwest caravan thread for times and stops to help with this years caravan.

We have a caravan of 5 cars out of Chicago that will be spending the night in Florence KY - sounds like this will be close to where others are meeting and joining up as folks go down on Thursday morning?

As we get closer to the Dragon, organizers of the different caravan groups, will share cell phone numbers, so that on the day of the caravan, we can more closely coordinate and time meeting places.

Right now, the major meeting place is the first Rest Stop on I-75 just inside KY @ 11:30a.

Sean,

Tentatively.....

I-71 S Exit 65 (route 35) just south of Columbus, 9:30a Thursday, May 4. Exit turn right, first gas station on the left. (It was a Shell station). PM me with your cell phone#.

Remember to have your 2-way radio on Ch. 7 subcode 21.

Thought I would jump in here...Christy and I live in Louisville...1 hour west of Lexington...we're leaving around 9:00 a.m....and we're around 5 hours from MOTD...we'll see all on the I-75 at some point. Is there a common channel to be on? Our units don't have sub-channels. Will we be able to communicate with anyone?

Channel 7 Subcode 21, without the subcode, you will hear all on 7-21, but no one on 7-21 will hear you. So no you won't be able to communicate on the MINI channel.

MININEO.org Trip Plans

Well, I had nothing better to do and since Sarcux is going down a day earlier, I decided to charge and update our trip plans for those traveling on Thursday. In case anyone else wants to join up along the way, just find the spot and slip in. If you PM me, I'll add in a meet up point so we know to watch for you. We'll also be on the radio, 7-21.

If I did this right, the Word doc file should be attached.

PittStopMINI.org Trip Plans

Here are the tentative directions from the Pittsburgh area to the Dragon for Thursday May 4, 2006. After the first 200 miles, we meet with MININEO @ 9:30am and our routes are the same.

As Mark said, look at the schedules and PM if you want to jump on the "Tail" somewhere along the route. 7-21 will be monitored and active.

As a matter of fact, the rest stop in KY @ 11:30a is in Florence, I-75 just south of exit 178.

Anybody interested in caravaning from the North East region, PM or post back. I started a thread over at NEMINI.org to see if there's any interest.

I was planning on leaving Thursday between 10 or 11 am. Maybe I will just meet the caravan in KY. It sounds like it would be fun.

draggonmann, you should be able to meet the caravan at the first rest stop inside KY between 11 and Noon. It sounds like the caravan pulls out a Noon and breaks up into fast food, sit down food, and "I just gotta git there RIGHT NOW" groups. Perhaps we'll see you there!

I went down with the caravan last year and it was lots of fun in itself. This year I'm debating whether to wait for the caravan, or drag the hubby out of the house the moment he gets home on Wednesday, crashing in Knoxville for the night and getting to Fontana on Thursday morning before the hoard of people show up...Hmmmm decisions
