Hi qbabymonkey! Check out the Dragon Event Planner: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/motd-events

You can read about each event and purchase tickets for the ones you wish to attend. If you want to prepare your own meals, you can go to Robbinsville, the closest little town, and shop at the Ingles Supermarket, which is fully-stocked. There are also a few restaurants, including Sweetwater BBQ, a favorite of many of us.

Be sure to read through the Dragon Discussion Forum...you'll pick up a lot of valuable info!

Thank you so much for your suggestion! We are always up for some good BBQ and we will definetely be given this place a try upon arrival to Chattanooga.

I have a question: I would like Detroit Tuned, in addition to some mods my MINI's getting, give her an oil change. Any idea of how to dispose of the used oil properly? Thanks.

I heard there are some locals in a white Ford truck who will take it off your hands.

Oh, I hear ya on that bad actor from last year, Squirlz, but I am serious. When I requested an oil change at MOTD, Chad said he'd be happy to do one, but asked what to do with the used oil. Anyone change their oil up there in the past? How did you properly dispose of the used oil?

snooter, who are you posting this to? If you're responding to me regarding the oil change, I've been to the Dragon about 8 times since 2003...LOL! I'm trying to find out what others have done about used oil disposal. Thanks for the bump, though.

Hey,
Might check with a local garage. They may be willing to take the oil off your hands. In fact if they are like the ones around here they have an oil burning garage heater and will bring a barrel for storage and come pick it up after the dragon is done. That is if we plan on having enough oil to make it worth it.

Check with the Texaco station at the bottom of the hill, or the bike shop at the crossroads.

Thanks, Steve! I'm going to call Fontana and ask them about it.

C4,
I had a fun idea. Since you two are going to an Erasure concert in Nashville the night before, you guys can't be all that bad, and thus I would not mind meeting you at Sticky Fingers on sunday eve. FYI, memphis dryrub is the ticket at Sticky Fingers.

Mark, I purchased a couple of Chili Cook-off t-shirts(only) ,but noticed that their wasn't a checkmark, or anything of acknowledgment of purchase on the eventplanner. I did make a copy of the invoice.and I did read in the MOTD forum that the cook-off is at Tapaco Lodge. I see where it says that t-shirts will be delivered at registration cook-off. Would that be at the Adventure Center at sign-in or at Tapaco Lodge, where the cook-off is?
MINI Thanks
Mike

If you only purchased t-shirts and no tickets there will be no check mark in your event planner. The check mark only indicates that you purchased a ticket for the evening.

Also...just to note a technical difference...if you entered as a contestant there will be no check mark displayed. This isn't a bug...just that the contestant registrations are treated differently than a meal ticket.

Thanks!

Mark

If you sign up for the off-site autocross, is that considered participating in an official event? In such case, is it necessary to purchase an official MoTD Event Registration though NAM? What if you are spectating but not AutoXing? Since you sign up through myautoevents and (in my experience) sign all your liability forms there, it seems to fall in a different category than an 'official event' (parade/dinners/midnight drive/etc).

My understanding is that the auto-cross is considered part of the weekends events but its liability coverage is handled by the regional SCCA (who is putting the event on). Given this you don't need any type of additional registration through NAM for the event...just go through myautoevents to register if you are planning to compete. If you are going to watch you shouldn't need to do anything...other than attend

Regardless I'll ask Donna to comment since she has been instrumental in getting the autocross pulled together.

Thanks

Mark

You would be correct Mark. The autocross is an organized activity for the weekend hosted by ETRSCCA and covered by their insurance. Registration through myautoevents.com and the fee is all that is required for participants. Spectators are encouraged. No fee but I believe a waiver is to be signed. MOTD event registration would not be required to participate in the autocross.

If I come down with cash am I going to be able to get into any of the dinners by paying there or do I have to register online? (I have a fear that I'm going to be eating a lot of McD's or beef jerky from the loacal gas stations...) I just haven't had the time to really delve into all the events, there's just too much going on to try and keep track of it all (sorry.. ADD.. makes me get a bit confused when there's more than one thing coming at me at once.. ) Hooray for Ritalyn!

Register with the events before hand. They need a head count for how many to feed. I don't think showing up flashing a wad of $50's is going to get you a dinner.

There are places to eat at Fontana and Deals Gap. Robbinsville has many places to eat. You won't starev, but I'd advise to sign up for any meal you wish to attend.

It'll get you a dinner at my cabin! (Sorry, Randy; too easy.)

Seriously though, what he said. Just go to the events pages and sign up, paying with PayPal. No worries!

Whatever you're on, double the dose You're gonna need it at the Dragon....lots to do and see.
Bring cash..there are restaurants. Make friends quickly...if they're staying in a cabin, they might be able to feed you... Heck, I'll feed you for if you're paying

I always have peanut butter crackers.....cash would probably convince me to give them up if you are in need of food.

That's the spirit of generosity we've all come to expect in the MINI community! Bwahahahahahaaaaa!

Derek, do yourself a favor and check out the Event Planner of Dragon Events. The organizers must have an accurate head-count to plan for each meal event.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/motd-events

While there are other options for meals, you'll meet lots more folks at the organized evening meals.

WOW!... Thanks everyone..LOL!.. my concern was I'm maxxed out on PayPal, so I won't be able to do anything until that's paid down, I doubt that would be before MOTD... I was hoping I could register and then pay once I arrived.. I certainly won't be flashing $50's around..LOL!.. I'm thinking restaraunts are going to be my major source of sustenence. Only dinner I really wanted to check out was the Chili cook-off.. I make a mean-*** Chili, but I'm not driving a pot of it over a thousand miles, so I thought I'd check out others, plus it might be a good place to meet some folks.. Well... off to the events thread... thanks guys!
