Try Big Lots. Right before Christmas, I got an EB/W MCS (just like my Giles; Chad would have to paint the roof black, tho) 1:9 RC. Check out the collector boards, too. I think someone out in Vegas mentioned his Big Lots had a ton, and he might be willing to help you obtain one.

If you want to see what it looks like, I've got a picture of it in my gallery.

You will get your chance. I have one with a wicked fast engine and upgraded suspension. The other is bone stock.

Cool, my first one was called the "Rock Buster"... it was a clone of Tamiya's Grasshopper. It didn't take me long to trash it and decide I wanted a true performance buggy - the RC10.

I've got aftermarket suspension, but the rest is stock. The tub chassis is in excellent condition too! I plan to charge it and give it a try soon.

Nice! Does it still run? I knew a guy who had one "back in the day" (1984). They were expensive even back then - over $300 for the kit alone, if I remember right and then you needed the more expensive 3 channel radio.

So tempting to order on of those Tamiya Mini kits... To me, they've gotta be kits, rather than RTR. IMO, half the fun is putting it together!

It's been sitting for over 15 years. I've been meaning to strip it down and restore it back to top condition. The 3 speed gearbox is really trick...I made a gate for one of the two channel stick so it shifted just like a real tranny on the fly

On the other hand...I should've left this one in the box

If you are going after a Tamiya M03 or M03L You will need ball bearings,

DTXC1547 Duratrax 5x11 bearing Quantity 12 or 6 packs
DTXC1523 Duratrax 5x8 bearing Quantity 2 or 1 pack.

And the newer ones (at least in shops) will have an electronic forward & Reverse speed Control

Over the weekend, I pulled out the RC10. Charged up the battery and gave it a test run around the basement. It still works! ...kinda. Problems are:
1. Reverse not working
2. Loose connection in the BEC (remember those?) causing intermittant power loss.
3. Wheelbase too long for MINI body!

Seems prettymuch decided, that if I want an RC MINI, I'm going to have to put the the $$$ for a whole new kit!! Darn! I'm not sure I want to do that right now....

burnt out resistor?
2. Loose connection in the BEC (remember those?) causing intermittant power loss.
easy to solve but time consuming
3. Wheelbase too long for MINI body!

$100 for the kit at tower and your choice Classic MINI or New MINI. You can use the servo and RX that you already have. If you get a newer kit they actually come with an electronic speed control with them! If you order through them I would specifically ask that they ship you a kit with an ESC.

There is a Drift race class at Indy Slots South. 4wd open but uses a spec "Tire" It is not pvc because that is white but it is simmilar and black plastic tubing that fits over the rims. It is an open class but you rarely need more than a Chameleon or stock motor. The bodies don't tear up as badly as in the foam tire class but... They still tear up. You need 4wd to Drift.

PVC tires? Like in PVC hard white pipes? I've got the AWD so we'll give the sliding a shot

Yes PVC hard white pipes. But there is also a gray/black variety and that is what they use. Works well on Ozite. Also well on black top!

Cool here everyone talk about all those old cars. I work at a hobby shop right when the RC car thing started getting big in the lat 80’s. Tamiya was it back then. Later the RC10 was top notch.

My first one was the Tamiya Dune Buggy. All metal lead sled, water tight, very cool. Still have it but its bet to hell. Still have several of the old Kyoshos to

Going to bring my very custom RC MINI original to!! It’s only 1/12 scale but man does she fly

Hey Misfitoy,

Do you remember this from last year. I started a Mini Monster truck and showed this pic on the RC thread.

Well it's done and I'm bringing it to the dragon Feast your eyes.
