Do you Knit?

In a quick conversation with one of our married guys, he mentioned that his wife is PASSIONATE about knitting and wanted to know if anyone else knits who is coming to the Dragon. She'd love to knit with folks (and she's kind enough to teach me -- so she's got to be cool).

Here's the deal -- totally informal. While the guys are talking Mods to the MINIs on the ballfield -- anyone who knits, wants to learn, or wants to come stare and laugh at me while I learn --- meet us on the porch of the Rec Center (if we need to relocate inside, we will) ----say 3pm??? or perhaps after lunch.

Anyway, there will be knitters knitting at the Rec Center Saturday afternoon.

Off to pick out yarn!!

Hugs,
PB

I can think of other things to do than knit  I actually knitted 10 of those crazy looking neck scarves for Christmas presents. But I think I'll be out driving my MINI on Saturday:smile:

I will be bringing not only a scarf that an artist gal-pal of mine knitted to the Dragon, but also a hand-crocheted purse and 2 hats by another artist friend! I can't knit/crochet to save my life!

Odd thing is that I could do when I was a child, but I don't seem to have the patience anymore!?!

Lo, will you wear one of your creations? We can have the "Scarvish Gals Dragon Run" in your Sunnie, only we better not end up like Isadora Duncan!

Sure, I'll bring one We'll probably look more like Snoopy & the Red Baron

They are very easy to make. Cast on 11 stitches of that funky "eyelash" yarn & then knit away until it's about a foot taller than me You have to use the great big needles, a size 14 or 15 will do. I got so fast at it, I could do one in a couple of hours.

My German relatives tried to teach me to crochet but my left handedness made it difficult & I never learned.

There seems to be no end to the talents of the MINI faithful!

Now all we need is a graphic showing a dragon in a rocking chair knitting a sweater and we are set.

Ya know, it would be cool if the MOTD Knitting Circle were to offer things such as seat covers, air filter elements, harnesses, and other car-related items.

Funny you mentioned it -- I know that Twister's better half made him an iPod case and a shift **** cozy -- she mentioned maybe moving up to seat covers ---

But when he asked me about knitters, I thought he was looking for a knitted car cover

Hey do we think we should make a t-shirt??? Ok, I'm kidding here --- I think I might have given Mark a heartattack ---- someone in CO, please check that he's still breathing

Hugs,
PB

Great work Knitnik! I'm an avid knitter but have never tried felting. Used to rep for a yarn company and taught knitting at the local yarn shop. While most US knitters are female, that's not true elsewhere. Both my Irish grandpa (Mom's dad) and my Dad--Norwegian descent--were great knitters. I bet there are plenty of British male mini owners that knit.

The shift **** "snooties" arent such a bad idea, especially for those with Whalens.

It's funny how pieces of some threads (no pun intended) find themselves in others!

I learned how to knit years ago, but my stuff was never to gague,, it was almost bullet proof (i.e. tight). I can crochet pretty well, tho' I don't have a crochet project.
I do, however, have a needlepoint project going. Shall I bring it?

Yes, you should -- we can have crafting time --- I'm planning on learning, so I'll keep my cross stitch in the car -- and I don't have room for my jewelry supplies -- but I'd love to see what people are working on.

My mom does cross stitch as well. I'm sure she'll bring it along at least to pass time on the drive down. I'll pass along the word to her, and maybe she'll stop by and say hi! I can't make anything, but I'll stop by just to see how everyone is doing.

One of our club members offered to teach me how to knit, but I lack the patience.

If I knit one for you -- it will be dirty and have words written on it --- just like your car

No, see, that's what I need it for! Instead of washing my MINI, I can just put the cozy over it, and just toss it in the wash when it gets dirty!
