Cigar Sampling on the Dragon!
Awesome! The Vendettas are cigaretellos. I should try them Shermans! BTW I don't know about you but the last time I tried a Philly Blunt it tasted like well what animals excrete. I must add some other Cigar Called MonteCristo. Again, it is Dominican Republic made.

Then there was the smell... I couldn't get the smell out of my place for 2-3 days after, and I had the windows open 24h/d. ...Funny, but they never smell THAT way when you're smoking them.
Fixation? ...Food ****, cig/ar/ettes? What would Freud say?

The other reason was price. Yoicks. Increase in cigar prices outpaced my income. My faves were not ultra-expensive (Ramon Allones and Macanudos which are very mild), but they are beyond my wee budget nowadays.
Except on biz trips! One of my faves is after dinner in the mezz lounge of the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong. 1st world air conditioning sucks everything straight up. Whoosh. Oversize Hirsch Bedner seating between humongous cylindrical polished granite columns. Dense cut pile over thick padding. Lighting that both sparkles and glows. Cordon Bleu and Cohiba. The hostess pours. But she also prepares the cigar and lights it in her mouth. Aurgh, ptui, how unsanitary!!! I know, I know, but the ambience of substantial money, her lithe figure, that svelt outfit, the way she snips and then puckers...okay, okay, but I don't get to do it often.
I haven't had a Cuban yet.........but have had some pretty close ones......I thoroughly enjoyed the J.L. Salazar Reserva Especial box pressed. But my top 5 cigars (I don't smoke cigarettes) are here:
1. Litto Gomez chisel cut Dominican Puro
2. A. Fuente Hemingway Perfecto 6 1/2 inch long
3. Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial
4. CAO gold-label Cameroon "box pressed"
5. Punch Gran Cru
All cigars listed above are about 11 a stick for the Gomez, 9 for the Fuente, 3.25 for the Rey, 6 for the CAO, 5 for the Punch.
Most of the 3-5 and below are about 4 to 7 a stick as that is my everyday smoke. I still haven't gotten to my Master Blends, Gurkha Regent, CAO Presidential, etc. so those might be on the list soon, but I really don't want to spend a whole lot of money on a smoke for every day. So far the Gomez and Fuente are a special occasion smoke because of the "dizzyness" factor.
Smoke em' UP!

I only started smoking in 1999...
...and that was when I got to go to Cuba legally. Of course, I was also legally able to bring cigars back, and that's when my adventure began. Now that most avenues for legal Cubans are closed now [you DON'T want to be caught with illegals, as the fine and jail times are considerable, they say], I smoke an occasional Dominican, but mostly Hondurans and Nicaraguans. I see many of you like cigars...FANTASTIC! Let me know what ya might like, and I'll bring a selection of milds and mediums that I like when I come to the Dragon in May. I enjoy the Acid line....the Kuba Kuba is AWESOME, Clo. You GOTTA try it. Roly [Honduras] is a good brand, too. They are Indios Puros seconds...same cigar but without the big price tag. Flor de Oliva, from Nicaragua, is a great medium stick, while the Dominican Don Tomas Special Selections are mild.
I never smoke inside. As noted by many, the after-odor is overwhelming.
I DO smoke when I drive, but smoking and doing the Dragon at the same time are DEFINITE hazards to one's health!
hahahah Yesssssss, Zak, Jeremy, and Ryan...I HAVE learned a valuable lesson there!
However, there is STILL that down time AFTER the Dragon runs...LOL
Sure would be nice to hear from more cigar-smokin MINIACS on here.
By the way, some of you mentioned price. You can order cigars online, at VERY reasonable prices. If you are interested, email me, and I can give you some decent addys. If you are interested in ordering Cubans legally, I can hook you up with an address I use occasionally, too.
Zak...have you ever tried a Cuban Cohiba Esplendido?

Well, Clo and Zak...I sure hope there's enough room on that front porch in May. Maybe we can have our own Dragon Smokeout...MINI Style. I'll bring "un poco de todo"...some dominicanos, hondurenos, nicaraguenses and, of course, some cubanos. I'll also bring some flavored varieties that are not half bad, but ALL will be hecho a mano, as I don't smoke machine mades.

Due to popular demand, Smokin' the Dragon, A Cigar Sampling Salon, will be organized to follow the Welcome Dinner on May 5th. We shall convene at 8:30-ish on the porch of the Fontana Village Recreation Room, which has ample seating. We'll swap and sample and share our favorite cigars!
Once it is planned, a page will be added for participation registration; or it will be added to the Welcome Dinner page. Not sure yet....

Oh, good! I'm going to bring some port and perhaps some cognac, as well, to enjoy with the cigars! Thanks for reminding me, Scott! I'll be bringing some Kahluas, that's for sure! They are like a yummy post-dessert dessert!
