Cherohala Drive

FWIW, when we were down in October, the Dragon was very full of leaf watchers(will not be a problem in May), so a few friends and I took a ride down thru Robbinsville and got on the Cherohala (SP) Skyway, It is up through the mountains up to 6000' , beautiful drive, not as tight or crowded as the dragon, lots of scenic overlooks for pictures, and at the end there is a side road that takes you back to "somename" waterfalls, again another great pix place. Then we continued west to Telico Plains, and found a really neat restaurant I believe it was called the Bistro, which is right on the River and had a great outdoor riverside lunch. then on west and took a shortcut back to the beginning west end of the Dragon. I guess it would be about 1/2 day with lunch, depending on how many pix breaks we took, not that many miles. Anyway, if it is of interest, I would be happy to arrange the tour. if enuff interest, we can pull this off to a separate topic and have the event planners tell us which day it would be the best to do it??

Here's pix of Minzila at the falls

If you want to put this together that would be cool. We were going to include the Cherohala Loop tour from tailofthedragon.com in the welcome guide anyway...

Saturday would probably work best since there's two drives on Friday.

I was planning to do that Sunday, after the events died down, but would love to join a caravan Saturday or whenever.

Steve,

I'm SURE I'll have cigars left over for whoever wants to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Cuban style!

WHOA, big fella! Immediately following the Welcome Dinner is the Smokin the Dragon Cigar Sampling Salon on the porch of the Recreation Room! If you want to bring sipping tequila to that, that would be AWESOME! We could make hand-shaken margaritas...I'll bring a few spare martini shakers from home!

LOL, Hey Cheryl. I see you have your priorities in order. I have been considering developing a special Mountain Margarita.
One designed to provoke impudence and imprudence and to go well with bluegrass music.

And if you don't like bluegrass music, just drink another one and it will sound better.

Unless you have studded tires those ice patches are good to avoid. A motor officer from Chigaco died after he hit some black ice a month of so ago. I try not to ride if that stuff is on the road.
