Rear diff 2019 F60 All4

My Countryman was smashed while parked Saturday night. All the damage is contained to the left rear suspension. I'm worried there might be internal damage in the rear diff. Anyone know if or how the inboard end of the axle is retained in the rear diff?

TIA
Dale

There should be a little circlip on the end of the axel, which locks the axel into the diff.
