F60 Trailer Light Wiring

I installed the hitch on My 2019 Countryman S a month or so ago, and finally got around to wiring the trailer lights. Since the wiring is different from the R60 I thought I'd share what I found.

One thing to note, the tail light and brake likes are on the same wire with dim for tail light and bright for brake lights.I bought a snap on setup instead of having to splice wires. I bought Tekonsha (119250) T-Connector on Amazon for $123.00.

The wiring to both side tail lights is the same There is a 6 wire connector on each tail light with a nub indexing between pin 5 and 6. If you unplug the wiring to each light If you look close you'll see the pins numbered in tiny numbers. Here's what the wires do:

1. Middle Stop/Tail Light +
2. Backup Light +
3. Common - brown
4. Turn Signal +
5. Common - brown
6. Top Stop/Tail Light +

I think the commons are connected to all of the bulbs. And the positive lines are all separate with the bulb monitoring system can monitor each individual bulb.

Oh, and I installed Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" Item # C11522 that I purchased from trailer.com

Hope this helps someone.

How do you like that particular hitch? Did you do the install or have a shop do it? Did you find the fascia removal overly painful?
Does the receiver hang below the fascia or did you cut a hole in the fascia & How high off the ground is the receiver?

Thanks for any feedback and your post is helpful.

Love the hitch, much easier to install than the R60 hitch I installed. You don't have to cut anything, the down piece goes between the heat shield and the rear hatch motion sensors. I do recommend you go to Harbor Freight and get the black pop rivet gun kit that you use to squeeze the plastic rivets. I used it to re-rivet the rear wheel arches back on.

Curt calls it a 10 on a 1 to 10 difficulty index but after doing the F60 it was easier than that. There is a plastic filler inside of each tail light covering two 10mm nuts, then there are two white plastic dogs inside on the outside edge of the tail lights that hold them in. A half turn each and the whole tail light pops out, you don't have to remove the chrome trim ring.

The bottom lip of the receiver is about 9.75 inched off the ground, higher than the F60 and doesn't scrape when you back up to a curb.

I did buy the Curt European ball/mount 45562 which is a 2 inch ball with a 5 3/4 inch rise. It puts top of the ball about 16 inches off the ground which is level for my utility trailer and gives my motorcycle trailer a slight rise to the car. I pulled it 450 miles each way to Orange Beach and back and it did great.
