Start up question

Hi all. I recently bought a 2016 Mini Cooper Countryman (Chili Red, Base, John Cooper Works). I've had it for two weeks and love it. My question is, if I push the start/stop button to start the car, I have to do it twice. First press for the electronics, second to actually start the car. Is this correct? Seemed when I first had it, and pressed the brake first, it only required a long press of the start/stop button.

It starts fine. And I could have done something playing around with the car. It's an off lease, 24k miles, but didn't have a manual. I've recently downloaded it and don't see anything re: this. Just wanted to double-check and make sure this isn't the start of a new problem.

Thank you.

As long as your foot is depressing the brake pedal, it should start with one activation of the toggle/button.
