Wireless Phone Charger Solutions

Folks,

We have a 2017 Countryman S All4. I use a Samsung S10+ and my wife uses an Apple Xs - both support wireless charging (Samsung at 10w and Apple at 7.5w).

Despite the car having integrated Nav, we both prefer using Waze exclusively and need our phones mounted in a convenient place. We prefer a wireless charging solution so that either one of us can place our phone in the mount without having to connect any cables.

Given the high dashboard and narrow windshield, seems like an air vent mount solution could be best. There is an ASTOUNDING number of options on Amazon for these devices and I have ordered and returned several for a variety of reasons but mostly due to complications from the vertical air vent slats with the big **** in the center.

Here is a
link link
to just one example of what we are looking for.

Has anyone purchased something similar that they are happy with? There are just so many options out there, hoping someone has scored and will share details.

Not interested in Cravenspeed or Mini mounts (not wireless), not interested in magnetic mounts (interferes with wireless charging) and prefer not to attach anything to the windshield.

Anyone have any success with this?

I've been looking at this...
https://www.proclipusa.com/product/m...roclip-adapter
(i know, it's magnetic... but hey, if it works...)

I've had ProClip in all my cars for many years.
Just haven't tried this wireless solution yet.

I refuse to get anything that blocks the air vents.

Thanks for the suggestion, but this mount is magnetic. We don't want to add metal plates as that will interfere with wireless charging on other chargers. But thanks for your reply.

Just FYI... it looks like they use two smaller plates, top and bottom. Rather than one big one in the middle.
Only bringing it up because I too am looking for a phone mount and we would need to charge on other chargers too.
This solution looks like it might actually work.

Not sure how well using just one at the bottom would work if your phone has a large camera setup like in this link...

I'm guessing your 2017 has Nav but no car play? I think that getting Carplay coded for your car may be the better way to go so that you can use Waze on the larger factory screen instead of buying something to mount your phone. I'm in the same boat and I'm getting Carplay coded this weekend.

Correct, no CarPlay in my 2017, but that wouldn't help me with my Samsung phone.

Update

So after buying and returning several wireless chargers from Amazon, I think I have found an
acceptable solution and linked it here acceptable solution and linked it here
.I attached the device to the air vent to the right of the center stack, attaching the clip to the vent slat to the right of and below the center vent control ****. This position adequately supports the combined weight of the charger and phone without much lateral sway. So far, so good!
