SE engine noise when starting

When I started my 2018 SE today (with a fully charged battery) the gas engine immediately kicked on and was running very rough. It was quite loud, almost sounding like a cylinder was misfiring. I switched to e-drive mode and then back to auto mode and it did it again. I drove off very slow and after about 1/8th of a mile, the main display fluttered, the engine shut off and the electric motor took over (as it should at slow speeds with a charged battery). After that, the rest of the drive was completely normal with no loud engine noises when it kicked on. Next time I started it, everything was back to normal, with just the electric motor on.

This is has never happened to me before, has anyone else experienced this? Hope this is nothing serious but I will definitely take it to the dealer if it happens again.

I have had mine start, but it didn’t run rough. It said engine start was required. It was after a point she had been on just Electric for while with short trips.

I have beeb told by a service advisor, but have not experienced, that if the gasoline engine has not been run in a while you can get some gelling in the fuel line, She recommended running the vehicle at least once a week for a few miles on Save. Gelling might cause what you describe.
