F60 winter
winter
Well boys and girls, you better have that Mini windshield washer reservoir, filled with something that doesn't freeze !
Suppose to get real cold this week upper Mid-west ( you are probably already cold) to east coast and Mid Atlantic states. I use that orange Rain-X type, doesn't seem to hurt paint.
I remembered why I hate winter; yesterday a short trip to NC, dry roads, salt dust, and tractor-trailers throwing gravel at your car.
So annoying.
Today I have washed and quick waxed with 'Protect-all' and cleaned the rubber trim and door seals. Cold outside. Going to get colder.
A gravel hit the windshield last evening and it sounded like a .22 rifle !
I have been looking today for a chip, havn't found it yet. If it had hit a headlight I bet it would have shattered it.
It was so warm and nice when we picked up the Mini last August, I miss summer.

The difference between the south and north relative to snow is with 2" in the majority of North Carolina the schools will be closed for week along with a run in the stores for bread and milk. In the places like Central New York, you get 2", you put your t-shirt on and go outside to bbq a steak.
Oh, in CNY a bbq is where you take some charcoal, fire up the grill and do your steak. In the south, a "bbq" is meat cooked real slow over wood, a "cook out" is the charcoal on the grill.
Weather Guesser called for flurries here Friday. Got a little more than that. If I had known I would have put the Mini in my storage building for the duration. The fresh winter coat of wax on it should protect it well enough though. The Mini won't hit the road until there's been enough rain to wash all the chemicals off the asphalt. Until that time the Suburban will be my 13mpg chariot.
The picture of the Mini was not long after it started to stick. The other is the view out my front door.
Oh yeah, I use the Prestone 3 in 1 stuff in my windshield washer.

A place that I skied at when I lived in CNY would usually have a base of over 20'. Was not uncommon for them to get 48" in one day. In school we learned that when the settlers came to area they found that nobody lived in the area, called the Tug Hill Plateau, including the Indians. They asked the Indians why and were told it snowed really bad. Settlers did not believe them and set up shop. Never came back down in the spring, starved to death.
Yep! It's here!
I had it out last week in some pretty bad ice and it did very well. We're running Pirelli Ice Zero's and I'm very impressed coming from years of Blizzaks. I also bit the bullet and had a clearbra installed covering the entire hood and bumper because after buying the CM the wife had taken it for a 4 hour road trip up north and when she returned the front had about 10 rock chips. It became apparent that this thing is an air plow and had I not condom wrapped it the front end would have been destroyed after a season of winter highway sandblasting.
Oh - and yes we already got a rock chip on the windshield too which has been repaired.
