MITM ~ Side Trips: Railway Ride
A group of friends of mine just took a rail journey from Georgetown, CO, less than an hour from Copper Mtn, and had a great time!
If you are looking for something a little slower paced and just need a break from all your driving to get to our beautiful state, try this:

Since June/July/August are tourist season times, I'd suggest getting tix in advance.
I've been here nearly all my life and am thinking of jumping on this train, so to speak

This is for sure a fun and informative ride. But be sure to bring a warm jacket, because you're sitting outside on a moving train in a shaded valley much of the time. I did this trip a long time ago with my brother and his kids in July and we FROZE.
Georgetown is a fun little town to stroll around with some neat little restaurants and cafes. My favorite is gone but the food's great at The Happy Cooker.
There is a paved road up the mountain behind the town too if you want a better perspective of the valley. (It isn't paved all the way through to Grant, but you can go up and come back down.) The last time I was there, a bear strolled into town from that road!
