I have a mini cooper s countryman that has a starting problem
It almost sounds like it wants to start but doesn't
I got a scan done which indicates 2c58
Can this be the cause of not starting
Please assist

 

2C58 is a boost pressure problem. Boost from the turbo. Basically what happens here is the car bypasses the turbo, runs as naturally aspirated. So that, on its own, should NOT be causing the engine to start or stay running. Please let us know if you get it!

An excellent question. There are VANOS codes that will cause 2C58, the 2C58 perhaps not being an honest code in such a scenario.
