I recently installed a remanufactured head on my Countryman S. After I put everything back together the car will not crank. It has full power everywhere (radio, I hear the fuel pump, etc) but when I press the button it goes back to "on". When I press the button, it behaves like I don't have the clutch pressed (I do when I try crank it).
I checked all fuses in the cabin as well as in the engine compartment.
I figured I left something unplugged somewhere so I started looking thoroughly and found I have an unplugged 3-prong connector near the turbo. For the life of me, I cannot find where this goes. Does anyone know?? See below:
so this happened to me last week, my mini would not start and battery and starter were ok. I had to get it towed and my mechanic fixed it by replacing the the ground strap which is a pretty cheap part.
hope this helps
EDIT
I just noticed you were questing the plug, as for that I have no clue

Thank you - I checked the ground strap by running the negative cable from my multimeter and the battery, fuse box connections, and some other random places and it seems to be ok at least where it connects to the chassis. Replacing it seems pretty easy so I may do that just in case.
As far as the connector - that is the connector to the oil pressure sensor. Once I realized what it was, it was easy to find but it is very hidden.
I checked the ground strap again and seems to be ok. I found online a check where you connect a jumper cable to the neg side of the battery and the other side to a clean metal part of the engine or transmission. I used the engine mount. Still no crank. I also (for fun) check voltage at different locations using the engine as the neg side. All looks ok.
I check the starter solenoid by giving it 12v to the signal connection and the starter motor spins but does not engage the flywheel. I never heard that from inside the cabin so I am assuming that was going on while I tried to turn it over... In any case, it appears I have a bad starter solenoid. I'll be ordering a new starter/solenoid tonight.
