Morning guys, I have an AC condenser that I am changing. Fins on the old one were compromised causing poor flow (no leaks though). Can anyone tell me the amount of Freon (by weight) to use and if anyone has done this before do you have any tips to make the job easier? I have all of the AC equipment such as vacuum, manifold set and charging hose. Thanks in advance!!
I did the condenser on my `12 CMS ALL 4. Take your time, the whole front has to come off the car minus the headlights. Bumper, grill, etc. Have some extra plastic clips on hand and check all your side marker lights to see if the bulbs work or not...it's the perfect time to change them since it will all be apart. It's not too terribly hard, just takes a leap of faith since you're doing a massive disassemble.
Just curious was your's leaking or was flow compromised ? Speaking to your statement of massive disassembly, yep. I've had the front off of a couple other mini coopers, so I feel ya on that.
Mine was leaking. The custom mount I made for my off road lights pushed back into the condenser when someone backed into the front of my mini. Hole in the bumper, hole in the condenser
Gotcha. Yeah my son rear ended an idiot that slammed on her brakes and the light bar bracket i have on her pinched a few of the veins in the condenser. (Just a bump no other damage) You wouldn't think it would cause much of an issue, but you can definitely feel a difference. Mini did a diagnostic on it and verified poor flow. Outta warranty so HELLO DADDIES GARAGE!!!
