I'm curious about the large opening in each of the front strut towers. Should there be a grommet or something similar there? I didn't see anything on RealOEM but it seems odd that there's nothing to cover it. Our street climbs steeply so the county keeps a lot of sand on it this time of year. Consequently, I'm getting a lot of sand in my engine bay. If there's no official solution, have others addressed this? I've thought of using magnetic sheet but am not confident that it will stay put.
If it were me (and I know what you mean, because I have an inner fender liner out right now and I'm getting sand, too) - I'd just clean the surface good and dry - and then put a patch of gorilla tape over the hole.
It may come to that but first I'm going to try making grommets. I ordered some rubber material that I'm planning to layer to form a grommet. If I get it to work, I'll post a photo.
It finally warmed up enough that I was able to try making the "grommets" to fill the large strut tower openings. Installed the first one this morning and it fits really well. In the photo, you can see some of the sand that gets in -- I hope this cuts way down on that. Am making one for the driver's side now.
