Scan tool

My son just purchased a 2011 Countryman S All4. What is the best scan tool to use for basic maintenance (reading codes, resetting CEL, etc). This is my first European car with OBDII type diagnostics available. We both really like the forum and read a LOT on here prior to his purchase.

I purchased the Bluedriver “Bluetooth” OBDII for my r53.

I think it was about $99

I use the "Torque Pro OBD 2 & Car" app for my Android phone with a "Mini Bluetooth Car Scanner OBD2 ELM327 V2.1" from ebay.

This works really well for diagnostics and recording all the parameters that are available with the Mini Countryman and will cost you around 10$ in total. I've kept the OBD 2 adapter permanently connected to my car for the past 2 years so that I can read or record whatever I want whilst driving on my phone mounted on the windscreen.
