R60 Fan Issues
Fan Issues
Hi all. I haven't been on the forum in a while, but have since traded in my Clubman for a new Countryman in 2012. We've had very few issues with the car and is still one of my favorites.
Lately, we've encountered a cold snap, i.e. temps in the teens.
What I've noticed is, if I turn off the car, *sometimes* the fan remains on. If I try to turn on the car shortly thereafter, the car turns over, but the engine doesn't seem to catch entirely and sputters. After a few seconds, it usually snaps out of it and starts properly. This problem only happens if I have turned the car off and return to it within a few minutes to start again (running into the store).
I also notice that, if the fan is running, I can get it to stop by trying to restart the car and aborting.
The weather has warmed a bit and I have noticed the problem has gone away.
Thoughts?

Its perfectly normal for the fan to run after shutting the car off in any weather. you don't state your mileage but it may be time for Spark plugs and or coils on a 2012. My 2012 CM ALL4S has 75k and def. needed both.
Thanks for this. My Countryman has nearly 88k miles on it. I have an appointment for an oil change coming up. I'll ask about the spark plugs and coils.
