Spoke to Race Chip and looks like they'll be sending over another stage 1 and 3 unit to test out and they'll come with new software. I guess it's worth a shot to see if there is any difference

Thats ridiculous. I appreciate all that you did but very dissapointed in the claims of that chip. Not everyone has the access to resources like you did to check the validity of their claims

Well look what just arrived from Germany...

Been swamped at the office today so I haven't had a chance to go out to the car and install the new tune. Time to get her back on the dyno sometime next week. I had installed a custom intake this week so I'll be putting the stock intake back on to be able to give the same comparison as before.

Stay tuned for more pics and videos!

I'm wondering if Racechip will be a good company and back their products buy letting others send back for an updated tune.

First thoughts on the new race chip stage 3 they sent me.... this actually feels faster than the previous tunes they sent me. However I do feel that mid to end of the rpm range the power feels like it dies out and is stock like. That would mean that maybe only tq increased and hp levels are the same as before with the other stage 1 and 3.

Can't wait to get it on the dyno again to see what my butt dyno feels.

When is dyno day? Does the dyno you go to, monitor boost as well?

I have a manual 2007 S with the RC Pro installed and I really notice the torque improvement..which is all I am interested in on the winding roads in the South of France I rarely get over 120KL/75 MPH with a average RPM 3000 .. the car is fast, I love it.
I even added two points to the left dial but after a run I turned it back , I found it would get up to 6K RPM too quickly
I wonder if the unimpressive dyno could be related to the Auto trans absorbing some of the power increase............

Had a busy weekend full of husband duties but I had some free time to install a mechanical boost gauge. Being the impatient person that I am... I didn't want to wait for shipping time of the NM engineering boost taps so I drilled a hole and tapped into a section of the charge pipe. Don't mind the boost gauge being held on with 3m double stick tape. I ordered a gauge pod this morning to make it a much cleaner install and I'll be vinyl wrapping the silver trim in black to match the rest of the stock gauges.

Boost gauge is functioning properly!

Now comes the crappy part...

Did a couple pulls this morning on an open stretch of race track on my way to the office.

Stock boost reading:

Race chip stage 3 (most recent one they sent me from Germany):

Both of these pulls were done at wide open throttle. Many other pulls were done with and without the race chip and as you can see boost readings are practically the same

This is great information, but a bummer that it didn't work out. You put a lot of time and effort into this.
So what's plan C?

Hi E46 , Did you try adjusting the left side dial up a notch or two?

Plan C is bolt on mods and one of your ecu reflashes

I tried adjusting those dials per Race Chips instructions that I was emailed and it still feels the same.

Yeah at this point I'll be sending them back. Otherwise I'm stuck with expensive paperweights

Can you send them this link to see if they can chime in and see what they have to say?
I will reach out to them and see what they can do for me as well.

Came across this thread whilst researching Racechips boxes for my Clubman. Did you ever get anything more from them about this? Or is it really just a placebo and a huge marketing trick for these companies
