R60 Limited mode!
Limited mode!
I have 2012 MINI Countryman ALL4 that I bought as a salvage vehicle. The accident it was involved in only caused cosmetic damage as far as I can tell. It appears to run and drive just fine. I have almost repaired it fully except for a solid yellow check engine light. I have been slowly repairing items and then clearly the codes associated with them. I am using the Schwaben Scan Tool that I purchased from ECS Tuning as my code reader. So I am assuming that it can handle all possible codes.

Anyways, I get the following warning under four different modules.
LIMITED MODE!
Unknown control unit variant!
The system may not work correctly
under the limited mode!
The following are the modules that return this message.
CHAMP-GW GATEWAY
CBX-MEDIA ComBox Multimedia
AMP amplifier
Engine-DDE Diesel Electronics
Does anyone have experience with this message?
Does the computer have to be reset by the dealer after an accident?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By "limited mode" are you referring to the car being in limp mode?
I had a similar issue with my countryman as well when I got in a front end collision. Ended up having to replace the DME and engine wire harness as the front vanos solenoid wires touched and caused the DME to fry.

No, it's definitely not in limp mode. I had my 2007 Cooper S go into limp mode when the recirculation valve went out on it. When that happened my car was slower than a prius. My Countryman on the other hand acts as if nothing is wrong. I can floor it from 0 to 90 and there is no hesitation. It's quite powerful.
The scan tool literally says Limited Mode. I brought it to a local shop and his scan tool from Snap-On was able to read them. I didn't catch the code number on it. Unfortunately he wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee to get the code from him. He did tell me that the code said MAP line disconnected though. I'm concluding that my scan tool isn't as powerful as I was hoping it would be when I bought it.
