I'm looking to see if there is something I can potentially screw into or affix onto the middle part of the seat that flops down (I have the center divider which takes out the middle cupholders...). Anyone installed something like this? I know there is the one that attaches to the center but I am worried if I put it back there it'll get stepped on by my kids.
The floor mounted unit is way tougher than the Flip up versions that mount to the Center Rail in the rear seating area.
I have an older thread about adding both cupholders and power socket with Mini factory parts to our 2012 Countryman with the rear bucket seat arrangement
After 1 year of service, they're doing fine .
You can buy just the cupholders and no power outlet housing or buy the other housing that has the hole for it to add one like we did.
One more note, we don't have the full length center rail that I thought I'd seen on earlier CM's. Ours stops at the end of the center console, and that's where I installed the factory cupholders. The extruded alloy rail then starts again with the rear piece between the two bucket seats.
I think the dual rear cup holder are worth it also, most people will not step on it from what I have seen and in a newer CM loaner i drove that had it, its a loner so they get used allot, it was fine. They would rather have a place to put the drinks, then have no drinks at all.
