Aftermarket exhaust tip length

I just purchased a set of Magnaflow tips. They have 2.25" inlets, 4" outlets and are 7.5" long. When I put them up next to my existing tips still on car, I noticed the pipe from the muffler to the tip is at an angle right up to the stock 4" tips, so cutting off the existing tips would give me a pipe that is at an angle to the rear of the car that I will have to attach the new tips to. While many have done this easy upgrade, nobody has mentioned the angled pipe. Is this an issue? Dont want to cut anything before I'm sure.
If anyone familiar with what i'm talking about can chime in...

One more question...Is the OD of the pipe from the muffler back 2.25"? Or will I need a sleeve?

From what i've read, its closer to 2" then 2.25, but the gap is so small that a simple weld or a tight clamp will seal it closed.
