Hitch questions?

Considering this hitch:

http://new.minimania.com/part/G2NMX6...tryman-Paceman

I have a tent trailer I’d like to pull...less than 100 mi. I’m worried it may be too heavy for the Mini. In the past I had an Expedition to tow the trailer. It’s 1500lbs dry. I don’t load the water tanks ever. I do, however, put a few hundred lbs of gear in teh trailer over the axle... Thoughts?

I just put the same one on the wife's Countryman. It works fine and is hardly noticeable when the drawbar isn't plugged in. Our trailer with the two kayaks, two bicycles and miscellaneous gear is about 500/600#.

I think you'll be fine unless your trying to haul it up and down mountain passes.

Maybe look into the Coopercrap hitch also?

I was thinking of the coopercrap one...but it may not hold up to the weight of the tent trailer...I just don’t want to stress out the transmission and the brakes...it’s a short trip, and we only go once a year. Not worth damaging the car though...

Thanks M7. You no longer make the 2”? That would be nice...then I don’t need a new bike rack also! Can the R60 even pull 2k lbs?

On the M7tuning site product description page, it shows they make the hitch with either hitch size, 1 1/2" or 2". Great looking product, and certainly robust.

Anyone know if 2k lbs is going to be too much for this car? It looks like I’m going for the M7 hitch if it can do it...
