Add an underseat subwoofer?

Hey guys, so ive got a 2014 all4 countryman with the basic 6 speaker stereo, over the last few weeks i kind of feel that the bass is a little lacking and been thinking that a powered underseat subwoofer would be the simplest solution.

Ive been looking at an Alpine 8inch compact sub (PWE-SE) or a Kicker hideaway (11HS8) that i believe should fit under the passenger or driver seat. Would this be a good solution?

It looks to have RCA inputs (and also a harness input) so one of my questions would be how hard would it been to run a RCA cable from the standard factory head unit? Would i need any adapters or other accessories other then a cable?

Thanks for the help! :D

The factory stereo doesn't have RCA outputs. But most of these add on subwoofers have what is called a "line-level" input. This just means it takes the signal from one of your speaker wires and uses that to get your subwoofer signal. You just have to make sure the speaker wire tapped into is receiving a full range signal. Most audio shops would be able to handle the install fairly easily if you don't want to mess with it.

The Earthquake SWS 8 apparently fits well - this is it shown in a BMW housing, but wouldn't be surprised if its not the same on the Countryman..

Do you know anyone who has tried to upgrade to these yet?

And do you think it will work in the stock system, or do you need an amp?

I doubt the sws8 would sound any better than the stock paper coned factory speaker running from the head unit - they need an external amp to drive them really.
