I just started towing my wife's automatic non 4wd behind our motorhome on a tow dolly. (Front wheels on dolly) and every time it throws a check engine light for the ABS. It clears after a few days the cars is driven but that seems weird with the ignition off while it's being towed.
I could be in error, but I thought I had read somewhere that one should not tow a countryman at all. One should use a flat bed truck and lift the whole car off the ground.

That's only true if you have the All4 (which the OP doesn't). You only have to get the drive wheels off the ground, however many of those you have.
