See and I was surprised it wasn't worse. This is still by-far the nicest online community I have been a part of. There are much much worse forums out there.

Perhaps the responses should have been worded along the lines of: OH! The Prius is a lovely choice!! I've always wanted to buy one of those for my grandmother! or maybe "oooh, you've bought a PRIUS!"

Seriously, i thought the responses were quite tame and many were tongue in cheek.

This was pretty tame.
I can only manage the feedback on other forums.
Nissan Titan, F150, etc.

I actually think the op's decision was not bad. I see prius cars everywhere.
The benefits of owning an a prius in california make it worth while.
Cheaper gas, commuter lanes, cheaper to register, tax breaks.

My wife would have an issue, since she cannot stand prius drivers, but that is from living in austin, they are more common here.
Lexus makes a version of the prius that I would own in a heartbeat.

I can accept anyone's decision to go with anything they want to drive. I'm also in favor of most anything tongue in cheek.

I think everyone was rather respectful, if this were bimmerforums there would be 2000 hateful comments. As for the Prius everyone has their needs for their vehicles, clearly the Prius meets his.

(Keeping Fenton) For our other ride we got rid of our Prius and got a Ford C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid (our first-ever Ford!). It was much more comfortable, significantly more economical than the Prius, more spacious, and more versatile. I'd recommend the comparison...

I belong to a LOT of car/Jeep forums, and this is by far the most "prim and proper" forum I am a member of! Go surf Pirate4x4 for an hour or so! Delicate sensibilities WILL be hurt! LOL

I've been a member of a number of other car forums and can honestly say it's much friendly here. Been a member for only a few months but even then I haven't seen long drawn out, angry threads that I've typically seen in the past.

So back to the OP -- I actually came from owning a Prius Plug-in. It was a decent car just not very exhilarating but if still a very techie car that any tech-nerd like me would appreciate. And yes, the HOV sticker was absolutely worth it, saving me over an hour roundtrip commuting 60 miles/day here in Los Angeles. I actually like the lines of the Prius -- it's actually a well designed car although it lacks the character that makes MINI special.

I wish my CMS had LEDs as white and bright as those on the new Priuses. And LED headlights! IMO Priuses have some of the best front-end lighting of any car out there. Share alot more in common with R8 lighting than it does CMS lighting.

Good luck with the Prius. I'm certain you'll be spending less time at the service bay than I will in my CMS within 3 years' time.

I am seeing more and more Prius cars, and the one that looks pretty cool to me is the Prius C. The 0-60 of 11 seconds is just a little hard to swallow.

Once they come up with a performance grade hybrid, turbo, brembo brakes, suspension, AWD, lots of tech...and great mpg......consider that my next car.

There's a saying that goes...Haters gonna hate. As long as you enjoy what you drive, then who cares?

Though I do agree with the above sentiment.
