I am considering ordering a stainless pedal upgrade kit from ECS Tuning for my 2012 non-S Countryman. It's an auto, so there's a gas, brake and dead pedal to replace. The second two are pretty straight forward, as they're just the pedal pads that get replaced. The accelerator has me a bit nervous, since it's a whole electronic module and not just a pedal pad.

Has anyone here replaced (or removed and reinstalled) their accelerator pedal? How difficult is it? What's involved in the process? Once I replace the pedal, will the car just recognize it, or is there going to be coding required by the dealer since it's a different part? Many thanks in advance for your input!

Great tip. Thanks! I just checked out a video on You Tube, and it looks really easy. One Allen screw and then just unclip the connection from the stock pedal and connect it to the new one. For the Sprint Booster, they recommend leaving the driver's door open for 5 minutes prior to avoid a CEL. I wonder if it's necessary for me to do the same. I think I will, just to be on the safe side.

 

For the Countryman Auto pedal kit. Its not that hard. Dead pedal insert , use a flat head , work around the and snap out, snap new on on. Brake pedal side off side new one on, make sure its all all the way and flush on the pedal base.

There is a little cap cover that will need to pry off, then you will see a little Allen screw, once that's out , turn to the side and unplug the clip. You can lift the module out and and replace it with the new accelerator. And re-install in reverse.

Might be a good time to clean the dirt that accumulates round the pedal on the carpet while you are there.
