Does anyone know if its possible to stream any audio from an iphone over the Bluetooth without having to utilize the stupid Y cable. The phone works perfectly, google maps uses the speakers without plugging it in so why the heck won't music stream without having to plug in!!!!! Its ridiculous. The Y cable charges too slowly to be worthwhile. Must be done on purpose to make you buy the cable. I do not have mini connected. Beyond that every time i plug the phone into the cable and hit the iPod option it automatically starts playing music from
iTunes.
I just want to be able to stream audio from my phone regardless of whether it is music or not. HELP!!!!

 

Yes you can stream from the Iphone without the Y Cable. but you'll end up draining the battery down since you're running the Bluetooth radio full time.

To do it go into the phone profile int he Bluetooth menu and enable audio

What's strange is the phone works wirelessly as well as google maps. But I can't stream audio, internet radio, etc. Doesn't make any sense. Must be someway to activate or bypass. Mini must have done this on purpose to force you to get mini connect. Not happy...

 

I did the whole external Bluetooth thing in my 2007 mcs. 6 years later it's pretty sad that mini is pulling this kind of crap forcing you to get mini connected. I don't need a screen for the radio when my iphone is light years ahead of whatever they could put in the dash.

 

Can someone please figure out a way to trick the mini Bluetooth into mirroring whatever audio the iphone is playing.

 

I have many rants about this car, Bluetooth incapability being one of them. $95 later, I found the solution and love it. It integrates perfectly and seamlessly. Sadly my Prius which was thousands less seemed to be far better optioned.
