hello, can i bend your ear on the CMS?

Hi, I've been browsing the forums on the CMS for 3 weeks now. I finally found a 2011 CMS fwd that I want. I will have to go 6 hours to go get it, which is cool, but I have some questions!

First off, I have never driven one, or any quick vehicle. I had a jeep, Buick, then Jetta TDI 2002. I live the smallness of my Jetta, but only has 90hp. My question is, with the CMS being 180 hp, will I feel almost double the quickness? Can I throw heads back? Will I feel remotely like a racecar driver? Haha.

I'm not looking for the fastest car on earth, I just would like to have a fun car that FEELS fast! ...at least compared to my Jetta.

Thanks in advance guys! Love this forum!

IMO the CM isn't all that "fast" of a car. what it lacks in speed (mostly by weight) it adds in a fun driving feeling so it balances out.

good luck shopping and if you have any other questions everyone here is really helpful.

Hi welcome to the forum. If you are buying the CMS for it's agility then you may be disappointed. You need to keep the revs high in order to be able to extract the full 180hp. I would HIGHLY recommend you test drive the car first before making a decision to drive 6 hours for it, as it is not for everyone and has some quirks that will need some getting used it. That said, the car looks fantastic and definitely stands out on the road.
Good luck.

Thanks guys! Very helpful, I really do love its style. The looks alone are awesome and I'd buy it on that, just was wondering how you guys felt about your own CMS's. I wish I could test drive them! We don't have a mini dealer anywhere near me. All the minis here are coopers, which from what I here is quite a different driving experience. As long as its a little quicker than my Jetta, Ill be happy!

I think you'll love it. I've had mine 2 months and it does great on the twisties. It isn't a 0-60 monster (still sub-7 second) but it will hang in the corners.

BTW, we have a Jetta TDI as well, but a 2013 and it has a bit more HP than 90. It has oodles of torque too.

Still, for weekend trips and fun runs, we always take Lana. She is a blast to drive.
