I've got the same issue in an unmodded 2012 CMSA4 automatic. I think I've gotten used to it, but the wife took the car a few days ago and let me know she nearly got T boned when making a left turn due to the response lag. She normally drives her manual 2012 R57, and after that ordeal, she's pretty much avoiding driving my car since it's 'laggy'.

I think it has to do with the fact that the 1.6L 4 cylinder is underpowered & turbo needs to kick in for it to get up. I can't imagine a non-S, but then again, it's not trying to drive 4 wheels.

If the problem is turbo lag, you might want to try the Oxspeed blow-off valve spring. It's stronger than the stock spring, which helps the turbo spin up faster.

For manual transmissions, the NM torque arm insert reduces play in the torque arm, which improves clutch response.

There was also a SIM update (SIM-12-02-11) for my 2011 that helped immensely.

I'm wondering if anyone who has this issue has taken their car to a dealer and demonstrated it for them? A couple of the posts here mention folks almost getting into accidents, it sounds pretty serious.

With the Toyota unintended acceleration federal case about to go to trial, I would think all car makers would take any acceleration(or lack of) problem extremely seriously....

i have a manual cms all4 and my dad has an auto cms all4

i have driven both trying to duplicate this hesitation ... full lock steering from a stop and can not duplicate it

i would say stop complaining and get to the dealer, something is not right ... neither of our cms all4s has any delay

Scott,
Did you use full throttle immediately in your tests?

i used light, medium and full throttle, both sport on and sport off, in both cars, and in my dad's auto used both full auto and manual shift modes

i used straight and full lock steering, both to the right and left

i even tried DSC mode, DTC mode and DSC/DTC off

in no case was there any delay in either car

scott

my car is an 03/2012 build and my dad's is an 09/2011 build, neither has had any software updates, both have had the temp sensor SB performed

doubt it's due to a mod. I have no mods on the engine or turbo. just exhaust, some electrical, and the NM torque insert.

I also guess I overplayed the lag time. its more like 1-3 seconds rather than 3-5. But nonetheless it is there. And after some data collection this week :P it also only occurs on "full" 90 degree turns.

I suppose the difference could be tires.

I say go to dealer, take out the loaner all4s auto see if that car does the same thing. If not let them drive yours and loaner so they can see the difference.

My All4 manual had terrible lag. Each time it was in for service and the car got a software update it would either improve the lag or make it worse.
