Yea, that waiting at the port for a ride is a killer. I've seen it be as short as 3 days and as long as 3 weeks....it's not consistent...I was lucky that mine got on a boat just a few days after production completed...

After i lost my ship's tracking in the "black out" area over the deep Atlantic, I picked it up again when it was about 50 miles or so off the east coast....it was really cool watching it travel up the Chesapeake and dock in Baltimore...

I actually placed the order on 07/01, but was talking with them on 06/29 (Saturday) and on that day, I asked when the 2014's would come out and they said anything I ordered would be a 2014. I assume because the order wouldn't have gone in until the following week. If it wouldn't have been a 2014, I would have waited a week or so to order.

But no, I wasn't timing anything, just worked out like that. Sorry I'm no more help.

I see you ordered on 7/1. Was that coincidental, or were timing that so that you could specifically get a 2014 CM? I'm curious as to what I will be missing since I ordered 3 weeks before you and will be getting a 2013.

thanks!

Jeff
The changes between the 2013 and 2014 R60 are very minor.
  • Premium Packge 2 dead
  • City Package created (alarm, power & heated mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirrors, comfort access, parking distance warning)
  • Base price up $100, but heated mirrors and washer jets now standard
  • Rear buckets are dead, as is center rail (at least to the back - may still exist in front seat)

Honestly, I am thrilled I got the 2013. I want the split rail and bucket seats in the back.

Full 2014 changes are here (other than color optins) but this doesn't include the massive shift to the F56 that happens later.

Just heard from my MA and my car entered production today. Exactly one month after I placed my order. I'm happy that things are moving along now. It was a long month of waiting with no updates.

Thanks Ehans. I remember the buckets getting pulled now, but didn't know about the other items...works for me either way as we wanted a bench seat !

Mine waited a week for a ship....that is the roughest part....our ship docked in Baltimore last Monday night and the car was on a transporter this morning heading to the dealership, so that wasn't bad....hopefully you will have similar luck!

Yea, IMO, the rear buckets are only useful if you will regularly have folks back there. My wife will have someone in the back of her car, maybe once every couple of years or so.

That bench provides a great platform for loading things in the back seat....slide boxes and groceries right across it...

Maybe, but I love - LOVE - the look of the buckets, and it blew my boys away that they recline and move. They are old enough to drive, so they will never be back there - well, rarely - but I just don't haul much besides my computer bag and that fits on a seat. Anything more and I'll use the boot.

ha, yes we said the same thing. the buckets give the interior a very balanced look. And having the 4 buckets in one of the upgraded leathers like the lounge championship red looks spectacular. passengers would definitely feel like they are more a part of the driving experience in them for sure...

So Z06, have you taken delivery yet? I called this afternoon and I'm still waiting on a ship.

Still good though, as I still have a loaner.

Nah, just went onto the transporter this past Thursday....my MA told me scheduled delivery to the dealership is tuesday the 23rd.....then the dealer will have it a couple of days to add accessories(checker rear and side mirror covers, JCW sport gauges, shorty antenna), and she tells me, they want to check every single option and operation of the car to ensure it's perfect before I pick it up...

Waiting for a ship....it's the loneliest status

Gauges are done at the VDC. Not sure about the antenna. It is cheaper, but can take longer than the dealer. Depends on how busy the VDC is.

Ah, I didn't know that! Well it didn't take them two long, as my car was put on a transporter 2.5 days after the ship docked....excellent, thanks

The interesting part about this tough, is that the dealer said they would be charging 2 hours labor to put them in....but if the VDC does it, would an installation charge apply?

Yes, but cheaper. I paid $800 I think by having them installed in Port Hueneme and the dealer said it would be closer to $900 if I decided to buy them later at their labor rate. They are listed at $649 on the Mini site, but that is parts only. Just about every single part in the Accessories and JCW section has an added labor charge not on Mini's site.

This is west coast, so maybe the east coast VDCs are different.

I'm still sitting at the "In Production" state via the 800 number and it has yet to show up in the OL. Production is scheduled to complete this coming Friday. The OL site looks exactly the same as it did when I went trough this with my '04. MINI/BMW doesn't seem to invest that much in maintaining or improving their websites over the years.

I heard from my MA that my Mini is on the ship "Honor" and it left port on Saturday. She said the estimate is 13 day voyage. It's getting closer...

Also the 800 didn't have this info. It still said it was at the port awaiting a ship. So she must have more current information. Also the Owners Lounge website still says "I'm too quick on the draw."

Here is a link to the ship's current position on marinetraffic.com

Congrats! Go here and put your VIN in the CARGO field. You'll see it loaded on the ship. Note it can take 3-4 days from departure to show up.

It'll disappear from the Marine Traffic site at some point in the Celtic Sea before hitting the North Atlantic and won't show up again until a few miles off the US shore.

My eyes still hurt from reading through the nasty countryman thread. I have to admit I am having second thoughts pulling the cord on a CM. This audience is not exactly neutral but if I am not considering a manual all4S, I shouldn't be concerned right?

I really don't need a new car but love to drive my wife's roadster and miss being in a Mini myself.

The manual All4 should be fine now with the updated clutch MINI is now using. I have a manual FWD with the new clutch. I personally like the way it feels.

Good to hear. This will be my (our) third mini and the only major issue I have experienced was the throwout bearing on the first gen hardtop after 65k miles. The roadster has been problem free so far after a year. I miss driving a mini daily. On side note it was good to see the JCW packages added to the build configurator.

Should be pulling the cord in the next couple of months. It would definately be a manual 2WD S.

That is what I've had now for a grand total of 8 days and love it. I just hate babying her in the breaking period. I don't think I've mashed the pedal down more than 1/3 of the way. Just 900 more miles!

Mine is FINALLY on a ship! Michigan Highway. Didn't find out until today and ASKMINI wouldn't give me ANY info! Had to contact my dealership.

What's this "nasty countryman thread?" Is this an issue with 2013's? What about the 2014's?
