No, and yes. Apparently the maintenance plan pice on mini's site is a suggestion, and it is $1,895 for the R60/61. But in California, it is $2,495. I actually get that as everything is more expensive here (wages, property tax, etc.). I said no way and they moved it to $2,095.

Maybe I got taken, but doing business here, I do understand the higher than average labor and overheads.

You don't have to purchase at your dealership. So call around until you get a better price and than take that quote to your dealer. I called every dealer in the tri-state area and I was able to get mine for $1600.

hmmm, I talked to the finance dude the other day at the dealer while we are waiting for our car. i wanted to review the T/C's for the plan. He said "ballpark" is $2195, so I am going to have to make sure they understand that MSRP for the plan is $1895 from the build configurator..!

yep, whatever price they quote me, if it's over $1895.... NOPE.

Well, I hope so. But it could be they jacked it up so high then discounted it. She said they only discount this low when you order a car, but she is a finance person, and I never trust finance people.

(being a finance person, I can tell you, never trust a finance person.)

The extended maintenance plan is also transferrable, which is nice.

Yea, just had that explained to me last night.

I'm good with sticks... Real good,,, easy driving on them.

What's the average clutch life in an S? If they fail at 120k or I'm not going to hit 100k in 6 years I'm not sure it's a good plan for me.

Then again I guess I could smoke-shift it starting at 95k or in 5 years 11 months.

$1300 at my local dealer for the extended service plan... They did say that a clutch is $1600.. And it's covered under the plan..

yes, it's actually stated on the Mini website that the extended service plan covers the clutch..

$1300 for 6 years/100k of service....that's a good price from what I have seen...

I wish I would have read this thread more carefully before going to the dealership... I ended up getting the exteded maintenance plan for $1800 without much of a fight, but I feel like I should've asked for even lower! Original asking price was $2400 though, so it felt like a good discount...

Discussing extended warranty and extended service plans with another dealer during our most recent (non-MINI) car purchase, I eventually found that the dealer would not sell a plan unless he made at least $600 on it. When I came in with a lower quote from another dealer, the response was, "better jump on that".
Bizarre

Thanks, I am certainly not going to pay more than the $1895 MSRP of the plan per the Mini site.

I see you have a late july on your CMS All4...Ours arrived last night. I checked it out this a.m. with the white vinyl still all over it....tracking that car from factory to dealership you realize just how far of a journey it is...it's amazing they can arrive in pristine condition...

Extended Maintenance Program

We got the extended maintenance program for our 2013 Paceman S - mostly because my wife wanted to get it. We got a lot of pressure from the finance guy - who immediately took $100 off when I asked. His main argument was the cost of rotors/pads - at $900 per axle. Two of those services would pay for the plan. I quoted this cost in another NAM post, and had people laughing at me and the cost. (However, the post with the cost comparison makes me think that we might very well use the rotor/pad feature - quoted at over $1K per axle afer 20K-30K miles in that comparison.) I am definitely not a DIY guy any more.

My main issue is that I don't think we are going to put that much miles on the car - I am heading for retirement at the end of this year, so no commuting miles after that - just pleasure driving (where the Mini excels!)

My one complaint about the maintenance plan is that is does not cover hoses (it does cover belts). Here in Las Vegas it gets hot - and I know that is hard on hoses. The Dealer said my wife's 2008 S Coupe was due for some new hoses - but we traded that car in. I would be much happier if the plan covers hoses.

Hoses aren't a wear item, so that makes sense to me. But they ought to be covered under your regular or extended warranty.

hahaha! i guess that's where the saying "takes one to know one" comes in to play...

What does it mean when you ask for a price on something and the answer is "ballpark"? i'm guessing it means it all depends how the month's sales tally up.

don't take this the wrong way EHans, but i really don't like car finance guys. i made it known to the last one, too. had my wife signed up on her highlander and out the door in probably record time. he stopped asking me questions pretty quick...haha. all these finance guys with their nicely pressed shirts, french cuffs and flash watches...i think they are making apparently too much money off these 'add on' sales...

i just checked MINIUSA.com and on a JCW R56, the EMP is $1795. Does anyone know what the extended warranty costs?

I paid $1795 for the EMP for our '13 CMJCW. The quoted 8 year, 100k extended warranty, including electronics was $3795. He showed me the BMW MSRP pricing, and they would not discount. So I said no, for now.

If we find there are serious reliability problems, I will look at it again just before the factory warranty runs out.....

It's just an outrageous price...in the stratosphere, IMO....either Mini uses this as a cash cow, or they know that there must be some serious repair bills north of 50k miles, on average, to get to that price point.

Finance manager at my mini dealer quoted me $1795 for Extended Maintenance plan. For the 7/70 extended warranty EMP XXL (includes nav and radio etc ) $3350 with less then 10k miles on car or $3730 with over 10k miles. For EMP XL $2938 less then 10k on car and $3318 over $10k on car.

I'm sure you will see other quotes from different dealers coming soon.
