R60 Possible CMS ALL4 owner...
I guess it comes down to the fact that they are not budging on the $26,327 price.
I've had my CMS ALL4 Automatic for a year. I'm a hard driver on the Dragon and run at 70-85 on the highway. I get 22mpg in town and 29mpg on the highway but the driving experience is awesome. It's a MINI and not a Prius...
The All4 made a hugh difference in pulling up the steep hills and hard corners at the Dragon. When it rains or snows it never fells loose as I accerlate from the line.
you don't feel the power shifting from the front to all wheels as it's seamless_ a beautiful thing.
I'm converting to the higher mpg and torquier Diesel when it arrives likely in 2015.
It gets upm to 58mgh on the larhger Imperial gallon. Likely for US gas will be 48-52mpg.
Bottom line:
1- All new cars have some basic eng issues but a good dealer makes up for that_ Don't waste time at a poor dealer or if you run into we don't fix factory screw-ups.
2- MINI is MINI and you drive it for the confidence, driving experience and love of the damn quickiness of the style and the people you meet...
3- Try customizing and optimizing it as you'll treat it like a personal thorougbred
4- Stay in contact with NA Motoring as these guys know what happening more than the service techs.
5- The options are great but expensive to add later. I love the Sirius, Buletooth, heated seats, and HK stereo. I bought a demo with the Comfort Pkg andn it's great..

The MSRP was $30,250 and the price he is giving me is $26,327 for a $3,923 discount. $26,327 seems decent to me for basically a brand new car (21 miles). That price gives me the room to add all the options I want and still keep it at/under $30,000.

Here's the Edmunds.com link for you to plug in your options and see what the Fair market Value is:

Does anyone know if you can get the black headlamp housing as an aftermarket product? My dealer said that it has to be built that way, you can't just order it and have it installed. I understande I would need the Xenon lights and white turn signals.
After all the research on the 2012 CMS4, I ended up purchasing a new 2013 CMS4 Crystal Silver w/black roof yesterday. So far I am loving it! I wasn't too sure what I wanted yet, so I didn't get any stripes or any other accessories, at least until I am 100% sure the direction I want to go.
This specifically says that the 2012 models have issues with the clutch. Does that mean that they fixed this issue with the 2013 models?
I just sold my 2005 Cooper S (and I'm sad) and have been considering a new Countryman. I started out thinking I would get a 2WD Auto, then I decided I wanted to stick with Manual, and now I'm thinking about the ALL4. I had the pleasure of having a 2WD Auto and an AWD Auto to test drive for a week each while the dealership worked out a passenger side airbag issue on my Cooper S for a few weeks. The AWD felt like it drove better to me. Would some of you agree, or was it all in my head? The 2WD had 25k miles and was broken in. The AWD was brand new with 250 miles on it.
I'm also trying to decide if the Sport suspension is a good extra addition or something I should skip.
When did car buying become so complicated?

True that some owners have had problems - myself included. That being said, you have to take a couple of things into account:
1. These types of forums is where people come to look for answer to problems and to vent.
2. The biggest issue that still afflicts the 2012 is the clutch on the All4's (I am one of the complainers on that.)

I love the push-pull feeling going up hills, powering out of corners, and double that when its raining or snowy. It's jusy a more confident feel and with the auto paddle shifters its just like having a stick...I was leer also but prefer it now...
But, that being said, there are some threads on the 2012 clutch and my understanding it was corrected in Nov 2012. From that point on it is a new clutch setup.
My 2013 All4 Manual shifts and runs great, about the same as my girlfriends 2012 convertible, just not quite as nimble handling wise, but feels very competent. I was lucky last year on MTTS and got to do Mini Cross in Nashville. I tore around the track in a coupe, convertible and then a countryman. It was an automatic, but still had a blast pushing it around the little layout they setup. Any remaining worries about it handling absolutely horribly were gone at that point.
People with the original clutch setup in a pre-Nov2012 All4 would talk about stalling it in reviews of the car, but I see no issues with the 2013 clutch feel at all. Had the car a little over a week and am loving it.
Haven't had a bad experience with my 2012 clutch, but I don't drive much where starts in steep terrain is required. I'm glad Mini upgraded it for 2013 in case I run into problems in the future.
Thanks for the info! That helps a lot. I feel better about the Manual option now. For me, it's just not worth it to me if I don't get the Manual. I had fun with an Auto loaner I had, but I knew I was giving it back.
I bet that Mini Cross was an absolute blast!
Thanks again.

The clutch had me spooked as well. Luckily, I was waiting for the 2013 JCW to come out, although in the end the price to me was too much for not enough extra. Especially when I added in those nice black leather red trimmed seats for another 2k and the car jumped almost 8k. Of course, that black w/the chilli red roof would have been nice along with the HP bump! Argh. Argh! ARGH!!!
