Steering Wheel Paddle Delete

Does anyone know if there is any adverse effect (or if it's even possible) to removing the steering wheel paddle shifters? It's probably the one thing on the Countryman that I can say I dislike. They seem to always be in the way when I want to just cruise and lay my hand on the center parts of the wheel. Also I simply never use them. I tried incorporating them into my driving after reading the arguments made in favor for adding them in the thread below but I never took to them and would happily go on without them.

Any info on the option to remove would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

Find a 2013 JCW-a owner that wants paddles and swap wheels with them.

Can be done, they are attached with screws (though you have to take the steering wheel apart to disconnect). Need to either buy harness for non-paddle shift equipped car or have dealer code out the error.
@Dark, I thought everyone was saying the JCW automatics will come with the Paddle Shifters??

Ehhh. That sounds like a PIA. Thanks for the info though. I doubt the dealer will code out the error using my warranty since it's not really so much a fix.
