R60 WMW testing some new Countryman Products
Really? Cheap brake rotors? They already sell cheap brake rotors for the countryman on eBay? They have smooth or slotted. I'm feeling like the kid in the Christmas story after using his little orphan annie decoder ring. What a waste of excitement.
Gotta say, I'm a bit disappointed as well. A stock replacement brake rotor for a 2 yr old car? Something that could not be leaked because it 'may' be knocked off? really...... um OK
As for the people upset about us releasing rotors, this thread was not about rotors, it is about ALL the countryman products we are working on, the rotors just happened to be the first thing we have tested and ready for sale. So I posted them like people wanted to know what we were working on, that is one thing, when we have more things ready we will release them.
As I said earlier, eBay is already selling solid, cross drilled, and slotted with cross drilled rotors for cheap. I'm waiting on y'all to come up with something we need that nobody else sells. Something exclusive to WMW. Did I mention the brake handle covering most of the rail system? How about a carbon fiber overlay kit for Mickey mouse and the two side vents ect.. A real CAI from WMW. A cup holder expansion adapter. Rail accessories. Spare tire that fits under the rear cover? I have a large list of items I'm waiting for someone to start selling.
i have used them for past 10 years with no problems.
Your earlier post said "eBay", not "EBC". Glad you have had good service from EBC products.
can u show somep pic of ur tails ?
They are the OEM tails with 45 SMD Tower LEDs replacing the bulbs. I did replace the turn signal bulb with an amber LED one, however. The only difference (other than the amber turn signal) is the brightness and the 3 rearward facing LED elements at the end of each LED array.
For more information with pics and videos, peruse the Modifications::Electrical::LED Bulbs thread.
The biggest difference is at the front end where I replaced the turn signal bulbs and the city (park) lights with LEDs. I have the OEM clear turn signals and ditched the amber bulb for an amber LED tower (when not illiuminated, the amber LED is white). Truly clear turn signals, now. Also, I have the xenon headlamps and the LED city lights are bright and match the color temperature of the xenons. Again, look for photos of all of these changes in the above thread.
Caution...the CM's FRM computer module performs cold and warm bulb checks to make sure there are no burned-out lamps. If there are, you get a bulb-out warning displayed. Problem is, LEDs draw so little current that they "fool" the FRM module into thinking a bulb has burned-out. To get around this, you have to either (1) code-out the bulb checks with NCS Expert (see Modifications::Electrical::Countryman-Specific Coding - R60 Guide) or (2), install load resistors on each LED.

HTH,
on my 02/2012 build cms all4, the tail/brake lights are single element lamps that come on dim for tail and bright for brake, they are not dual element lamps, only a single contact on the lamp base
how does this work with LED lamps? i thought they were on/off devices and to dim them you have to cycle them on/off rapidly (time division multiplexing)

Nope. The LED's brightness increases with voltage just like the single element traditional bulbs.
i have used discrete LED lamps in several aircraft instrument panel projects driven at their operating voltsage of 1.2 to 2.1 volts, depending on the color, and have not observed a brightness change with voltage unless the lamps are overdriven to the point of failure
i have had to build a TDM circuit to dim the LEDs, cycling them on/off at 500-2500 Hz and varing the on to off ratio to get what appears to the human eye as dimming
must be the electronics in the automotive lamp arrays that allow the varing brightness with voltage, i used input voltage to drive the dimming circuit in my projects, varing the input voltage to the timer circuit from zero (full time off) to bus voltage (full time on)
i may have to buy one and disect it

Please, for the love of Cooper, there's plenty of brake and LED options out there. Be special, and take my money!
:D
Let Way take his time and get things right before he rushes something to market that turns out inadequate.

Geez, I understand the frustration with the lack of aftermarket parts for our minis. My other vehicle is a Nissan Titan (highly less popular than minis), yet has way more aftermarket toys/mods. But it sure doesn't help to bash potential suppliers/manufacturers regardless of whether you like how they are trying to get in the market. At least they are getting in. I think suggestions of what you would like them to offer would be more productive. That being said, standard rotors without cross drilling and slots are probably not what people are looking for. I understand that cross drilled slotted rotors may arguably not be needed on cars that are not raced, but since when do people make mod decisions based on rational needs. I welcome any additions to the Countryman aftermarket, we need all the help we can get. Thanks WMW, I look forward to more.

elbow grease ... can't have enough of that
adjustable powerband for $95.99 ... hell yeah! why spend $500 or $1000 on an ecu tune
car to tank kit!!! ... the morning commute will now be fun!
and lastly ... a FLUX CAPACITOR! ... might need a couple of these!

i kinda figured that. most companies do
