Glad to hear everyone made it out ok. I am sure you are a bit sore from it but bodies heal. On that note make sure you get checked out by a good chiropractor. Some will want to do X-rays (even if not needed), huge treatment plans right away 30+ visits, and etc. etc. Those are the ones to avoid. If you feel like you are being sold, you are and you should run. Find another chiropractor who is interested in fixing the problems that were caused by the accident. Treatment should be based on the severity of the injuries, and how you respond to care. I am chiropractor and I see car accident patient regularly. Look for a doc who only plans treatment out a week maybe two weeks out, and then bases the rest of care on how you respond. You might not have any pain now, or you think it will just go away, but I constantly hear about symptoms returning to late for Insurance companies to cover it. Most states allow chiropractic benefits to be paid by the auto insurance liability policy, so little to no out of pocket for you.

Secondly I have worked on cars my whole life, and looking at the pictures I cannot tell if you car will be totaled. The big question is where did the axle and suspension break free? If the Axle broke and affected the transmission case, they that $$ for new tranny. If the suspension tore away and bent up the mounts that $$ to repair as well. If they both broke on their own and didn't crack or affect the tranny or the actual mounts its just new parts.

Good luck with it all and I second whom ever said go to a specialist. General repair shops do just that "generally good work, but not great work." It's like seeing a general surgeon for back surgery, I would hope you want to see specialist.

Good Luck, and once again sorry to hear about he accident. I agree drunk driving does not hold strong enough consequences, nor are people educated enough about the dangers of it.

I would not paint all general auto body shops with such a broad brush. Saying they all di "generally good but not great work" is pretty much like me saying, "all chiros do okay work but not great".

There are plenty of non-specialized shops out there that would do as good or better work than some of the shops that specialize in European autos.

Can't help on the damage issues. But I am very pleased that you and the little ones came out of this unscathed. Though what a shocker or you and your wife. Hope the trauma doesn't linger.

Anyone else concerned the airbags did not deploy? Is it worth looking into as maybe a technical problem? Seems like the back and front got hit really good...

Glad to see you are OK, the CM held up pretty well being pushed into that pole at speed...

Hope your kids aren't too upset over it.

The initial review by my insurance company's adjuster says its repairable, but it's currently awaiting a second opinion based on being deconstructed. If it is not totaled, expect too see lots of parts replaced with aftermarket products.

That's exactly what happened to my GF. According to the adjuster, it was repairable, until the body shop laughed out loud at all the stuff he missed. Then she got the 'sorry to inform you' call, which they should know by now is actually the 'great to hear call' that it's being totaled.

That front corner damage looks worse than it did in your scene photos. How close did the original estimate come to the total loss threshold?

ooohhh....man...I don't really know what to say without being blunt...you should really talk to the insurance adjuster again.

I hope with the 2nd opinion they get it right.

I wish you luck with your assessment. Restoring the right front corner of Fenton was 47 days and $13.4K. It looks like you've got the left front _and_ right rear to restore.

Who is handling it... your insurance company or the other driver's? If it's the other one, that could explain the delay. They would have to cimolte their investigation of liability first and even in clear cases, that can take weeks.

Glad for you though... appears that was the outcome you were hoping for.

Time to start shopping if you haven't started already!

Going through the other company because they have been much better to work with than my own name brand carrier. Pisses me off that my own company won't advocate for me even considering the money is all coming from the at fault driver's company. Looks like I'll be shopping cars and insurance carriers.

What is it that you were looking for from your own carrier that they failed to do?
