R60 Driving lights?
I just installed mine last weekend. I took pics for a DIY but havent had time to upload/write out.
I bought Hella 500 Fogs from tdnparts.com as they are local to me. I bought the VIP 2 light bracket & received them quite quickly. The quality is top notch as is fitment. (the directions could be better & you dont have to trim the grill as nearly as much as they note.)
I have the 'trigger' lead routed to the dash but am currently trying to decide on what I want to do for a switch. I wan to run them independent of my factory fogs. So, I will use the parking light as a source(so they are sw or ignition shut off) but I want to have independent control as I will have to remove the covers when using(serious use only). I want to retain quick(sw.) functionality of the oem fogs/switch yet add additional fog lighting when I see fit(& remove lenses. ie road trips/inclement weather, etc)
I looked into factory toggle switch and additional 'dummy buttons' & they are only available as complete switch panel$.
I dont want to drill a big hole for the Hella switch.
Basically I'm still undecided on where I want to mount an aftermarket switch.
Possibly going to use the green/illuminated Hella switch or a simple steel-rocker type to match the uppers. I will also be changing to yellow bulbs.

I've always had xenons on all of my previous MINIs...and this time I bought mine off the lot without them... These driving lights seem like the way to go - plus I like the looks on that big black grill.
Those Hella lights make your MINI stand out! Those are sweet!
I was thinking about getting the rear foglight switch and panel installed and the ecu done by the dealer to make em work like factory and just tapping my driving lights into that switch. So Thatta way when I turn on the rear fogs my driving lights come on. And I won't have any extra switches and stuff and it can be independent and turn off automatically when the car shuts off. How does that sound?

Where does the switch go?
Is the car pre wired?
As far as I understand (I am a first time MINI owner as of last Thursday, but have been absorbed into this site nonstop for days) the rear fog lights come as an option but are prewired. The dash will be missing a switch on the panel below the speedo if not equipped. From what I've read on this forum, a replacement panel and switch can be purchased and installed. A dealer or someone that can tune a car should be able to connect them through the computer and make them fully functional. I've found all of this on the site so a little browsing and you should be able to find the rear fog install.
Seems pretty expensive. We were driving with high beams on a dark wet road and found stock lights on high beam didn't cover well. Thought I'd go OEM but for 700 bucks, what do you get?
The VIP bracket and a set of Hell Black Magic 500s can be had for around 300.

Check your states law!
Had OEM installed by Mini dealer. Designed to operate only with high beam. My state Florida limits the number of lights at one time (4). Last thing anybody needs is to pulled over for an obvious violation.
Where did you get the bar that the lights are affixed to? Did you make it? I have the same Mini and have some vintage driving lights i want to mount but it'd be far better to have a bar like this - looks clean. Please let me know!
he hasn't posted in a while, you might want to send a PM in hopes he still has an email address linked.
My guess is that he got it from VIP Custom parts. They have 2 or 4 lights support
