today it was 103F and HUMID, inside the car it was 74F, the air coming out of the vents was 48F, and i have not yet tinted the windows

One thing I noticed on my drive home with my new All4 is how fast the air would warm up as the compressor cycled. A few seconds later the compressor would kick back on and the air would be cold again.

When mine has been sitting all day in the hot sun I open up the sun roof fully and turn AC on MAX. Within 5 minutes all the heat has been pushed out and I can then close the sunroof and go back to AUTO mode set at 70 degrees where I usually keep it.

It is great, but I am fairly certain I am going to have a wreck playing with Connected. They gave me an unbelievable deal on my trade so I went with the extended mechanical warranty for 3k.

That is the one part I don't think they are making me happy. I have a 2010 Mazda 3S, purchased in June 2009, only 29700K miles, immaculate condition, auto, sunroof, bluetooth, Bose...absolutely no flaws and they are saying 11K for it when I have seen this exact car being sold on dealer lots with comparable mileages for 16,995.

Honestly, I am prepared to walk away when my car comes in in a few weeks, I'm not accepting that for a trade in.

I've noticed that my 2012 Cooper S, does not get very cold. I've also noticed that the steering wheel interferes with the air flow from the right driver side vent.

Why not just sell it privately after your CM arrives. You can certainly get at least 13 for that car on a private sale...just look at edmunds, nada, and Kelly Blue Book. Well worth the effort.

Have you taken it to carmax? They tend t give the best prices. My car was worth a little more in average condition because it is a highly sought after color. Another interesting point, all 3 local MINI dealers offered me more for my MINI then other brand dealers. I wonder if it flows the other direction as well, a Ford dealer might give you more for a Ford than Buick dealer.

I have found the biggest impediment to air flow is the dang dash mounted center vent. Someone was making an accessory to block that vent and it would supposedly really increase flow. In my R52 if I didn't have a passenger I would close off the passenger vent.

I feel like I lost the plot somewhere along the line. Is this one of the nth threads about AC or are we on trade in values?

Well if it *is* trade in values, let me chime in with Carmax blows.

Hey, it took 4 pages for the thread to go OT, that is a record on some forums.

Not looking forward to this upcoming week with heat and the Mini. I've been driving my FJ and the air gets cold so fast I have to turn it down after a minute.

With the Mini I have to leave it full blast the whole time I'm in it.

So, yes, this is a thread about how my AC sucks.

Well, I just spent 4.5 hours driving 215 miles (heavy traffic, construction, brush fire) all in triple digit temps and the AC did fine. We had two adults and two dogs in the car, we set the AC at 70, and there was no complaining, sweating, or panting going on.

That being said I'm glad to be back in San Francisco where we have natural air conditioning

On 7/4 I drove about 130 miles in 90+ degree weather. About 40 minutes into the drive the AC started blowing warn air as if the compressor stopped working. This went on for a few minutes and then the cool air started again. This hasn't happened in any of my cars.

The fan is also really noisy!!

Now THAT doesn't sound normal. When I first got the car I was a bit worried, but now the controls are second nature--and I know what to dial up for any temp or sun angle (again, the tint was essential). The A/C performs quite well for me, and on long drives, the fan can be set lower once the car cools off. If that is not the case for you--I think it needs to be checked out.

if you have the manual controls, try this ...

turn the vent control **** fully clockwise, this makes the fan much quieter, however i find it puts too much cold air on my feet, so i go 1 or 2 clicks back counter-clockwise, still quiet and just enough cold air at my feet

also, once the car cools, i go down 1 click from max fan speed

That does point out one advantage of the manual versus auto system, and is the reason my GF insisted on the manual system after having the auto system on our R53. The manual system gives you more flexibility in "blending" the output from diffferent vents/ducts. BTW, I prefer the auto system, but she had the final decision as it's her primary car.

Same here, I find it surprising how strong the lowest fan speed setting is ... I'm always wanting something a step between that speed and OFF.

I have a less than 100 mile Countryman S with manual controls and it doesnt blow ice cold either. It is tolerable maybe around 80* in the cabin and this is when it is over 100* here in the DFW area. No sunroofs on mine, didnt want them because of the heat out here.

I've pretty much decided I am going to just keep the car and make the remaining lease payments instead of trading in and just return the car. If I take delivery in August of the CMS hopefully my first payment won't be until September, October if they'll do it, and my last payment on the Mazda is November.

that's the other thing i noticed with the system. it could be cool (60ish degrees) outside at night and i'll just try to have the outside air run through the vents with the fan setting on low but it feels like i have the heater on

It's supposed to reach 124 in Death Valley over the next few days! They call it an excessive heat warning.

I wonder what the thermometer max out point is. This was earlier today in Vegas. :hot:

Get that checked. Mine is blowing ice cold to the point I had to turn the temp down this weekend.

How is the window tint of these from the factory? Sounds like a little more tint on some of the windows and the Sun Roof might be in order. The windows on my jeep came so dark that you can hardly see in them from the outside.
