Locking Problem Last Week

I had an odd locking issue last week when I returned home from taking my dog to the dog park. We pulled into the garage, I unlocked all of the doors/boot so I could let my dog out of the back (we have the flat-load floor and cover), pulled the key out of the docking and tossed it on the floor (as I always do). As soon as I shut the door, I heard all of the doors/boot lock and sure enough, when I tried to open the real door/boot to let my dog out, everything was locked.

Luckily, we were at home and it wasn't summer so I just went in the house and got the other key. Had we not been home and had it been summer, it could have been a big problem.

There was no way that my dog stepped on the key by accident - as it was on the driver's side floorboard and she was "trapped" in the rear with the boot protector keeping her penned. Any one ever have a similar incident?

Somewhat similar, I've had the car alert me when driving off a few times that the rear hatch is open. It only takes a second to go close it, but it's irritating that it seems to open itself randomly when I know I didn't press the button. The first couple of times, I just figured the button got pressed in my pocket, but the last time there's no way. There wasn't anything else in my pocket that could have pressed it. It's kind of bizarre.

I keep the second electronic "key" in the jack pouch under the boot floor, but the real metal key is on my house/office keyring, in my pocket, but separate from the electronic key. That way, if I lose the electronic key or lock it in the car, I can use the mechanical key to let myself in and either get the main or backup fobs.

This happens all the time for me. I thought I was activating the hatch unlock in my pocket, so now I hang the key by the front door so that can't happen. It still happened once as I was leaving in the morning - hatch warning and back not completely closed.

Update 3/5/12:
When I got in the car this morning, the rear wiper didn't respond to the control, so I got out, walked around back, and pushed on the hatch...click! I'm sure if I started to drive away the open hatch reminder would have popped up. This still happens!
