The problem is the recall is "supposedly" only required up to January 2011 builds. alanwells vehicle was built in March 2011 (around the same time mine was built) I'll bet MINI wanting to 'destructively test' the car means they don't want to admit the problem extends past January builds. I would love to see the actual writeup, but I bet MINI keeps it to themselves.

For those still following this thread - the latest news is that MINI has inspected the car several times and last week informed me they need to do "destructive testing" and would like to repurchase the vehicle from me. I'm now waiting for a repurchase offer.
