Probably not. Thank goodness I leased it. At first I loved it and then the novelty wore off pretty quickly (I loved my GTI the whole time I had it). The chrome sticker issue x 2 and still not resolved. To having a computer replaced. To the hitting a bump over 50 on a turn and get bounced in the other lane. The clutch is weak. The power is iffy even in sport mode. I am realizing now, I am over this car. I can't defend it any longer.

My partner and I are confused by all the cup holder complaints. All of our drinks have fit into the front cup holders perfectly. Water bottles, cans of diet coke, tall starbucks drinks. No complaints here about the cup holders.

Actually no complaints about the car at all so far (only at 600 miles so far).

No complaints about the sport suspension and RF tires being too stiff either.

As of now, I would buy again.

Put a couple of medium-tall cups in the holders. Then, put down the windows and mash the sport button. Any problem?

From my point of view, smaller is never an option.

Sealy, who's talking coffee and soda here. Really.

Agree. We have a collection of 14-16 oz travel mugs, and almost all work fine and are solid. We also never use disposable cups in our cars, so that is a non-issue. I guess I just don't get the super-size drink thing.

I like the Sport Suspension with 17" tires also.

I don't have my Mini yet to know... but we typically roll with the plastic reusable ones so hopefully they fit. If not, the ones linked from Amazon look fine too.

I would absolutely do it again.

Sealy is right, it is a BMW in disguise, but given my experience with BMW's I feel it's a selling point.

The more I drive the CM the more I like it. I was concerned about lack of room and lack of power for going over mountain passes, but the concerns were unfounded. The first 4,000 miles and have been trouble and rattle free. It's a very promising start.

After 900 miles,yes.
Driving position and comfort of the Polar Beige sport leather seats are simply outstanding.
The Technology Package is great, specially the Web Radio feature.
Being able to listen to football games and commentary from all over the world is just amazing. The Pandora app interface is excellent and so is getting a kick out of seeing jaws drop when i show someone the latest episode of Top Gear on the screen
Handling and power are good.Perfect compromise between comfort, practicality and motoring fun.
One of the things i like the most is my color choice,Royal Gray.Looks great and i don't have to wash my car 6 times a month as i used to my black JCW.
Dislikes,the usual:
Cup holders(my JCW's were more compliant),length of Y cable and the lack of space to fit the iphone properly. The run flats, although they're not as bad as i thought they were going to be.

Things to do:
Get rid of run flats and reflash the ECU whenever a safe option is available.

I wish the gas tank was a little bigger. Cup holders have not been a problem for me. We've made 2 trips now and had room to spare (we expected to have to trim our load somewhere. It is agile in crappy traffic. I love the driving position. The brakes are great. Husband likes to drive it too--he was pleasantly surprised. Pretty happy overall! So, yes--I would.

Pick up my pre-owned CMAll4S on Thursday. From a dealer in Minneapolis. After a scheduled inspection at Moterwerks in bloomington, I will hit the road for 10 hours of "get to know" drive home. Looking forward to getting to know it one on one. Will weigh in after the trip.

Sadly, I would not do it again. I have had to many problems. Peeling trim, cracking wind shield, melted tach housing, and I am on my 3rd thermostat. Gas milage was great when I first took delivery. I also have a fair amount of interior rattling now.

The dealership ha been great with me, but I did not expect these type of problems after putting down $35k for the car.

I would have to pass. I am actually considering trading it in while I can not take to bad of a hit on my trade in value.

It will be interesting to see whether there are fewer problems with the 2012s. One would hope.

You didn't notice any of the drivability issues on your test drive? The test drive is what convinced me to go R55 instead of R60.
The sport button doesn't add power, it changes your throttle map, that's all.

I bought a used CMS All4 and already put on 2K miles on it. It does have it's quirkiness with all the buttons and gauges. I am still trying to figure all of them out but that's MINI, right? So far no major issues. Of course I would have liked a larger gas tank and better cup holders and maybe better paint to prevent chipping on my hood? I enjoy driving it around and its very zippy compared to my Toyota Tacoma I used to drive and much better on gas. Cross my fingers and toes that nothing major happens considering its a 2011 first generation CMS All4.

Yes, I would do it again. Unless they come out with a 4 door version of the regular MINI. I just needed an extra door for dropping the boy off at school. I did not want the large size, the cargo space, the expanded width, or any of that. I just need back doors!

Unhappy Would I do it again

Came from a 2007 Mini S and a 2008 Ford Edge.

1st, I really like Mini!

Now have a 2012 Countryman S

Love: The look, sunroof, sport package and space for such a small SUV. Managed to get 3 adults, 3 suitcases, laptop bag AND a golf bag, ALL in the boot. Had to fit my driver along the passenger door but the rear passenger had the entire bench seat to stretch out.

Wish: wished it had more power, better gas mileage and higher positioned door mirrors. The Edge got 26mg on reg fuel (heavier vehicle and 3.5L engine) and I have a Porsche 911 (3.6L) that gets 32 mpg on the roads. We just completed a vacation to Disney in Florida from Texas, the best we got was 30.5 on premium 91/93

Dislikes: interior could be better for the price point. Radio controls could be better. And currently there is no home link mirror available for the Countryman.

Hates: they replaced the fuel tank after 500 miles, now the gas filler cap light comes on at every start.

Like I said I really like Mini but from the posts I've been reading and my experience with the Countryman, their quality control stinks.

Future for Mini and our Family, No. The are too many fine cars out there for the price that have better options and quality.

1 Full year in and 10,000 miles and we are very happy with our CM.....my 16 yr old daughter cannot wait for it to be hers as I will be ordering the Countryman Coupe when it comes out this Fall. I will say that for the most part, the complaints seem to be coming from those that purchased a "S" and/or All4 versions.....score one for the little guy(our Justa) as we have been 100% trouble free...must have ordered a mid-week car!!!!

Talking Would I do it again?

I really like Mini now have owned 3, 2007 Base & S and now the Countryman S. The regular & S Coopers have been flawless, so my decision to buy a Countryman S was an easy choice. Mini's are such fun cars to drive!

Tacoman, I'm really happy you're one of the owners that have not had problems. I had the code checked at AutoZone and it returns P0442--EVAP small leak detected.

THE SELLING/SERVICING DEALER HAS BEEN GREAT!

They have already replaced the fuel tank after 500 miles, supposedly the first replacement in the US. Now after a 2500+ mile trip to Florida, the check engine light came on. Each time I have to take it in, it's 50 miles round trip and the loss of the car for (fuel tank) a week to a few days.

This repair on Monday will be the 3rd instance of a fuel problem, on the 4th occurrence, it will go in with a Lemon Law letter to either fix or replace the car to both Mini and the servicing/selling dealership. I really do not want to do this, but it's rapidly getting to that point.

Mike

2012 Countryman S, White, Auto trans, power sunroof
2007 Mini S, Mellow Yellow, auto, power sunroof--retired for the Countryman
2007 Mini Base, Lightning Blue, auto
2012 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.6, Aqua Blue

I have a 2012 All 4 and really love driving this little beast. It has also been a trooper in the snow.

But I just am not an SUV or hatchback person. They bug me. There is nothing wrong with my Countryman and it has performed flawlessly. If I had a complaint it would be the poorly designed mini-connected interface, the ergonomically bizarre placement of the door window controls and or the rattles in the rear somewhere. But really those are minor complaints. I really just don't like hatchbacks.

So as a result, I am trading for a 2012 JCW Roadster. I should have waited in the first place but I thought the Countryman would be better suited for me since it had more room and the Roadster/Coupes weren't available when I needed a car.

I am going to have to take a hit in the pocketbook but in the end I think it will be the right choice for me.
