This aspect of my trial is not helpful as it was in my R56 but the car took 14.1 gal. The most I have put in it was 14.3. Mind you it has a 13.2 gal tank.

So your R56 has at least a gallon of reserve space over the listed size of the tank? Hmmm...I wonder what that means for the Countryman.

I just pushed it to 330 miles and squeezed in 11.9 gallons.

Real World MPG 27.7 - Computer suggested 29.6 (still happy)

Lets see who can push the All4 the farthest on one tank (kind of like Kramer in Seinfeld)

I just filled my all4 with 12.24 gallons. The odometer had 369.7 miles and the computer still said I had 30 miles to empty. I have about 8700 miles on the car.

That's impressive - I think you win on mileage. You must have the manual shift version.

I believe they report "fuel tank" size in the specs. The fuel filler neck and the fuel lines hold additional fuel that is not counted. If the tank is not very close to the opening the filler neck can hold quite a bit of fuel.

I'm getting over 800km from a tank in mine, mostly city driving, I think I'll get more than 1000km on a long trip.

I wonder if the "saddle tank" configuration straddling the drive train influences the ease of "filling up" the tank. With pumps here, I do more filling after the automatic fill clicks off - sometimes over a gallon before it clicks again.

Just put 13.2 gallons in

My wife has a regular Mini Countryman (no All4 or Sport). We just filled it up with 13+ gallons. It had 377 miles on the odometer, 2 candy-corns were left, and it had just told us that it was on Reserve (within about 20 miles or so). Unfortunately, I failed to note what the Distance to Empty reading was. Next time we fill up, I'll make a note of it.

While I'm sure the filler tube can hold a bit more gas, I don't think it can hold nearly a gallon.

I have the feeling that the specs for the non-sport/non-All4 tank are incorrect. In theory we had at least another gallon or two left.

Just finished off second tank, both fillups have been between 10-11 gal at the gong (2 lights on), showing 29.5 mpg on the dash and just under 600 on the OD in mostly city driving so far.

Our last fill up took 12.39 gallons. Had 350 on the trip odometer with 1 indicator still lit and 20 miles remaining on the computer.

Does anyone know what the lit dot above the gas pump image indicates. Always has stayed orange for me. Is it some type of "your last warning?" My MA didn't know what exactly it indicated, but that it was new this year.

Re-reading the manual, I found:

"The fuel tank is full when you top off twice after the first time that the fuel pump nozzle clicks off."

and fuel tank capacity:

"Approx. 12.3 US Gallons/47 liters, including the reserve capacity of 2.1 US gallons/8 liters."

So, don't forget to go two more clicks to get "full".

I top off until I can see the gas in the fill pipe!

Unless you fill up in New Jersey, then it's highly doubtful that a full tank is possible. But the prices are considerably less than surrounding states.

Filled up yesterday: trip odometer was at 301 miles, it took 10.5 gallons, 3 candy-corns left, and Distance to Empty was 91 miles, 28.666 MPG.

I still think the US specs are incorrect...

Doesn't filling up after the click cause a bunch of gasoline vapor to escape into the atmosphere?

Maybe if you don't fully tighten the gas cap.

If yer using a gas pump in certain areas of California: no. They have special vapor-recovery nozzles that form a seal around the filler pipe.

Latest fillup: trip odometer: 354.8, it took 12.271 gallons, DTE was 54, 2 candy-corns (had just gotten the "Fuel Reserve" message 3 miles previously), 28.9 MPG.

I'm guessing the real capacity of the tank is 14 and change.

Again, is a 6-speed manual, non-sport, non-All4 Countryman model, for those of you keeping score (mileage?) at home.

Don't know exactly but just did 20 hours of highway driving between Pitts PA and Boston MA... Mini claimed 400 miles per tank. Like most of you guys, I won't let it go close to empty. Started looking for gas when it had two bars left. But it still calculated and seemed like it would have reached 400 miles/tank. I'm happy with it...

Here's one advantage of the tiny gas tank: I tend fill up when the gas gauge bars turn red and there's two bars left. I get a little over 10 gallons in. Each time after I fill up I reset my trip meter. So it makes it trivial to figure the gas mileage - just divide the mileage by 10. I get anywhere from 26 to 28 mpg, 50% city driving. ...Just looking at the positive.

Hi All,
Just figured I would chip in my information. When I first got the car I ran it down to "----" Yes when the miles till empty gets down to 1 mile it still goes lower to "----" My old BMW used to do the same thing. Don't worry this isn't common practice for me but was on a road trip and between exits so had no choice. When I filled up the car took 12.3 gallons (i'll try and find the receipt for proof). While I am dissapointed with the range of the tank I am still getting decent numbers with my maunal "justa" at 28.3 mpg and am by no means a conservative driver.
