I put in my car order on mar. 25th, and am going to pick it up tomorrow (may 18).

I attended the rock the rivals event in houston tx on may 7th? (I think) and got the coupon q couple days later, no problem.

I got an email n monday saying my car would arrive Tuesday night; so i called my M.A. and asked him about the grand off voucher. He said that he'd ask his boss and let me know.

So.... I talked to him today and he said they'd take it no problem. Just to bring in the coupon and they'll knock the thousand off my financing paperwork.

So I'm crossing my fingers that they don't pull any bs on me, but honestly its been a pretty easy time working out with my dealer.

It seems to me that u guys that have problems, are the victims of some shady dealers. Talk to them, make it a 'gimme my money off or i walk' and they should most typically budge and honor the vouchers.

We should be picking our car up on Saturday and our dealer isn't wanting to take the coupon. They forwarded some of my emails on to a regional manager but I haven't heard anything back. Don't see why it matters. Guess they would be fine with me walking in and buying a car off the lot and not taking the car I ordered.

Bradrulz or any others who picked up recently-

Were you able to use the coupon? I'm curious as I may be picking up my ordered car soon and want to get the $1000 off. Dealer says the car is not eligible...

We found a car already in production and made a deal on it. We now have our name on it. They wrote up an agreement sheet and they agreed to include the $1000 coupon without hesitation. I got another $500 off. Total of $1500.

I picked up my CM4m on 5/19 (see signature) and used a $1000 certificate to reduce the price. I negotiated with my MA in advance that the certificate would be honored, and the dealer's GM approved the use of the certificate. I had my MINI on order, and according to the MRtR guidelines posted here I would not have been able to use it. Establishing a relationship with the MA and getting advance approval assured me of the discount.

I've been disappointed to hear that others have been unable to get that kind of support from their dealers or MINI.

So far I have not been able to use it. Picked up the car today and Mini Corporate is supposed to be giving me a call on Monday. It is noted in the paperwork I signed that the dealership will cut me a check back for $1000 if I am able to use the coupon.

Thing that makes me PO'd is that everyone at the dealership has a different story on why you can not use the coupon. Today the reason they stated was that I didn't obtain the coupon from Mini Rocks the Rivals at there dealership and that the coupon can not be transferred to a different dealer. Bunch of BS if you ask me.

The instructions for the dealership (posted on this site earlier) specifically say, "Customers can redeem the certificate at any authorized MINI dealership."

I used one at a different dealer than I went to for the event, and my dealer let me use it even though the girl who took my address down got it completely wrong. They said that might be a problem for them (I assume because they get reimbursed by MINI USA) and asked me if I was willing to take a call from MINI to confirm with them that I was the same guy who went to the event. They said they'd make good on the $1000 even if the address problem ended up invalidating the coupon. MINI never called.

Nowhere on the coupon does it say that you have to buy the car at the same dealership you went to the event at, and I absolutely did it, so that excuse is baloney.

The e-mail the coupon comes with does say that it's invalid on cars that were ordered before the event, so that exclusion seems fairer to me. If somebody was able to get their discount anyway, that's really cool of your dealer.

I would definitely hoot and holler about it if my dealer had tried to exclude me on either account.

Yep, that's what I told them today and the finance person claimed if I had obtained it from there store I could use it. I will let you know what goes down when Mini ever calls me.

Quick update -To my surprise, my dealer has accepted and validated my RTR coupon. When I asked previously they told me that the coupon is not valid on previously ordered cars. My MA asked for my coupon and was able to validate it yesterday and adjust my OTD price accordingly. My CM is schedule to arrive at the port on 6/1...I am a happy man!

Update as well:

My dealer was unable to get BMW to accept the coupon, but owing to a willingness to stand by my MA's earlier commitment, the dealership was able to give me the discount anyway.

They made it clear that the discount was not, in fact, the coupon, and showed me the fine print where it did not apply, but I think I ordered enough options, and was persistent enough that I got what I wanted in the end.

They're putting my tires on it (Goodyear Eagle F1 A/s) in place of the run-flats and I'll be picking it up in the next day or two!

Oddly, they put mudflaps on it, which I didn't ask them to do, but like the look of quite a bit, so I'll be keeping them. Portland weather and all.

Cheers, and pics when I get him home!

Just for my own sake Tad, who was the MA you were working with at Portland MINI now?
I'm guessing I'll be going through this same exercise in the next week or two.

I was working with Ann Fry originally, and my deal was assumed by Bradley O'neill when Ann was injured and left the dealership indefinitely.

Again, they were pretty clear that the $1k coupon would not apply, but owing to some written commitments from the outset, I was able to get the same amount discounted.

I don't think anyone loses at $1k off MSRP, as there's still plenty of margin in the car, but then the pipeline on these has dried up for now (I was told that there were probably 20 people who were ready to buy my car and I believe it) so you may have a very hard time getting them to budge.

Good luck, and cheers,
Tad

When you put up some pics, I would be interested on how the mudflaps look... I've been going back and forth on getting some...

Well, I got my $1,000 off when I purchased my CM4. That was definitely the best thing about participating in a local MINI Rocks the Rivals event (plus the t-shirt).

I see that the MRtR series will still be going on for some time. In case you're unaware, it's billed as an opportunity to drive the CM and some competitors vehicles, hopefully so you'll decide to buy the MINI. It's not the giant event that, for example, GM's Main Street in Motion is.

I posted some images from both events at:

Good to hear that some people are still getting the discount.
My dealer confirmed yesterday that I won't be getting this deal since MINI won't accept the offer on previously ordered vehicles.

Ignoring the fact that all production slots for this year are already spoken from here in Portland and they only had 3 cars to purchase prior to the event they weren't willing to budge on this.

I ended up pulling some accessory work that would have been worth more than $1k to them for their lack of empathy.

It sounds like the Stealership there in Portland is not looking to work with you. Must be nice to be that way. My MA guaranteed me that I would get the discount even if it was late in delivery, but I did not get a Tee shirt. Guess I will ask him to throw something in tho take the place of the shirt

Well, time for a bit of an update. My MA actually encouraged me to email MINI and express my disappointment at the limited terms of the promotion, especially given the production problems they currently have run into with CMs.
Since I had to email the "mini.sales" address earlier to get my coupon (wrong email recorded at the event) I sent a note along. One day later I get a response indicating that MINI is going to contact my dealer and make sure I get the discount.
Hopefully by the weekend I'll be motoring and have $1000 extra in my pocket.

Hooray for customer service?

I picked up my Countryman this past Friday (6/10) and my dealer applied the $1000 coupon without any problem. They were able to validate my coupon about a week before I picked up my car. As long as the coupon is validated, I think the dealer will get the $1000 from MINIUSA even the car was ordered before the RTR event. I would ask the dealer to at least "try" to enter the certificate number into the system and see if it validates.

Does anybody have a Rock the Rivals Coupon I could use? I'm about to buy a Mini and would love to save some extra money! I noticed that the coupon expires July 5.

Well, if you move in to the residence specified on the coupon, that would work. Otherwise the rules would exclude someone else using a coupon.

Yes, alas, they're very strict about addresses. My address was misspelled on my coupon, and apparently my dealer had a hard time getting it to go through with MINI USA.

MINI USA lost my coupon
My MA sat me down at the sign in and had a copy of the info, but MINI had lost mine for some reason. It took 3x longer to straighten that out than the financing took
