I contacted someone in the Baltimore area who already did a Countryman. He will charge me $895 for the bonnet, scoop, headlights, door edges, mirrors, front bumper, and the sill of the hatch. Sounds MUCH more reasonable, especially since I believe he is the one that does the installs for the dealer anyway.

I'm paying $795. for front bumper, bonnet, scoop, headlights & mirrors.
no door edges and hatch sill. Sounds very fair.

I'm all set up with an appointment for the day I pick up the car. Driving the back roads between the dealer and the install place! :-)

How long did they say it will take to install?

I'm paying $500 for whole front end & mirrors....it's a friend of my sister and he is charging me $100 less than he would normally. He actually does installs for all of the MINI dealers in our area too. So I don't have to deal with the stealership middle man.
I am also having him put a strip on the front edge of the roof and the top edge of the rear bumper also.

I installed the headlights and fog lights myself.

I wouldn't have the dealer do it - they're likely just going to farm the work out to a local shop so you're better off finding out who they use and dealing with them directly.

We had both of our MINIs done, and for $450 each, the installer covered the front bumper including foglights, the first 18-20 inches of the hood, the hood scoop, and the headlamps. They would have included the driving lights and the mirror backs for no additional cost, but I was concerned about heat from the driving lights, and I didn't know how the film would look on my carbon-fiber mirror backs or my wife's chrome mirror backs.

4-1/2 years later and after about 130k combined miles, the 3M film has held up great - no yellowing, cracking, hazing, clouding or peeling.

I had mine done by an independent person. It took four hours. It cost $550.00( this was discounted due to being in a local mini chapter).
warranty was for the life of the car I beleive.

He did the bumper, 18" up the hood. Door cups, headlights and strip over the back bumper on the flat part that the hatch comes down on.

He said that having the mirrors done is very difficult to get right becasue of the shape and it would never look pristine w/o folds. So I declined the mirror caps.

Had clear bra on the hood only on my previous mini's and the bumper on my pepper white 07MCS looked horrible after 55,000 mi

Was your '07's a 3M product? My neighbor had his dealer installed and his yellowed and cracked and had to be removed this past summer after only 3 years. I bought 3M and installed it myself and it still looks great after 4 years.

Some piece of mind:
I contacted Autopaintguard, where I purchased mine from, to order the headlight/fog light clear bra for my wife's CM and he told me that I can remove the film from my '03 and send it back and he'll give me new material for free since it's under warranty.

Picked up my Countryman last evening.... Dealer did a great job on the 3M Clear Bra, well not them a private company they use $595. Bumper, 1/3 of the way up the hood, Headlights, all 4 Door edges wrapped. I had them skip the mirrors. Great Job and life time guaranty. Now if the Nav. and Mini Sync would work I'd be a happy camper

That seems like an incredible deal. Mine is going to be $895 done privately for the same, except the back sill below the hatch. Dealer was going to charge me $1400 for just the hood, front bumper, and mirror caps.

1400 Are they NUTS... Actually they quoted me 595. Plus another 95 for the headlight...but they threw in the headlights for free plus they had all the door edges done..so I'm pleased. Great Stuff! Back Sill is a good idea and still may have that done. Have you received yours yet ? I'm sooo happy with the ride...just having issues with mini connect and Nav not working..Just trying to find out as more arrive if it's isolated to me or some software issue...which the dealer is thinking

They are nuts. I believe the guy I'm going to does these for the dealer, and apparently teaches installers to do it. Perhaps I can talk them down. I don't have mine yet. It arrives in Baltimore in a week, but it's likely it will be another 10 days til I get it, as I'm going out of town starting on Wed the 22nd for a business trip and it may not be ready by then.

Sorry to bring back an old thread. Was wondering how applying a clear bra impacts detailing the car? Do you wash and wax the same? Do you clay the covered area?

You should be good to treat it as you would the rest of the car. Here is a thread I found on the topic.

I didn't see this thread until now, but just for the record I got my front end, lights and mirrors done for $350 at Eco-Tint in Las Vegas. They use Llumar brand film. Kudos to Mike and the crew for the great deal and usual great work!

That's a lowwwww price for a clear bra! Having watched one installed on my MINI, that is the value of the labor alone.

Me... I tend to shy away from prices that seem too low. I wouldn't buy a gallon of milk fir $1.50 even if it was 10 days before the expiration. Hmmmm.... what is wrong with this milk??
