New MINI owner, long time MINI lover

Finally after 25 years of yearning for a MINI I now own an Indi Blue Metallic 2003 with less than 20,000 miles on it and it looks brand new. I love it. But, I'm having an issue with the road lights. They will not come on, and I'm not sure why. Unfortunately, it did not come with a manual and the dealership (non-MINI) I bought it from is ordering one for me. Thought it might be the fuse, so I checked and it looks fine. There was no spare so I will have to get a couple. Is there any chronic problem I should know about? I ask the brain trust out there for words of wisdom.

welcome & congrats!

what do you mean by road lights? you mean the grille-mounted driving lights? if so, maybe they're not hooked up? some people mount them for looks but don't wire them up. if it's the oem kit, then there's a switch on the driver's side kick panel under the steering wheel, and the lights only come on w/ high beam...if it's correctly programmed by the dealer

Yes, the bumper mounted driving lights. Since I'm not the original owner I don't know if they were programmed. The little LED light comes on the switch when pressed, but nothing happens.

See if they work when you put on your high-beams. I think the OEM rally lights are installed to work only when the high-beams are in use.

Hope that helps.

I thought the driving lights are able to turn on when you turn on the headlights, at least this is how a 05 MCSCa was like.

Talking from experience do you think the bulbs may be bad? I’ve had to replace both mine a few years ago. Rally lights take a beating when you close the bonnet, so the filaments may have broke.
